MY07 Impreza - Auto Express today

Picked up a copy of Auto Express at Lunchtime. It has the photographs of the 2007 Impreza, which will be a hatchback, offering engine sizes of 1.5, 2.0 and the Sti producing 300bhp.

It looks like an Alfa 147 with a Subaru badge.

Undecided!

FirebirdUK 13 April 2005 12:07 PM

Hatchback? What were they thinking of?

IMHO - the editor of AutoExpress needs his head examined :cuckoo:

Daily Sport of the motoring world

silverscoobydan 13 April 2005 12:37 PM

The only reason I can think of is that they are sharing the platform with another car in the group. Any other smallish hatches that would suit the profile?? Also saves the dilema of the functionality of the estate or the style of the saloon.

rizzy 13 April 2005 12:42 PM

so let me get this rite, they just relased the my05,there is also a 2.5 my06 on the way and now theres a new platform for my07?

speedking 13 April 2005 12:43 PM

Looks like a Clio to me.

Link.

SirFozzalot 13 April 2005 01:12 PM

Never a truer word spoken, can't believe people waste money on it, at least there's some bigger knockers to ogle in the Daily Sport amongst all the made up stories ;) :D

Neil Smalley 13 April 2005 01:44 PM

The scoob had to go, as it breaches the new pedestrian safety regs so an FMIC was always on the cards :(

C2forWRX 13 April 2005 01:49 PM

yea i got a copy to. i can't decide if its another auto express photoshop job. it will grow on me i think but for now its got the back end of a focus

Bartop 13 April 2005 01:56 PM

Bartop 13 April 2005 02:09 PM

BillyBong 13 April 2005 02:11 PM

Thats the pic I saw. Haven't seen a shot from the back yet. Deffo Celica sides and a photo chop I say.

Click on the picture of the magazine on the AutoExpress site on the other link - it makes it larger. The picture on the cover looks very SEAT-esque to me... not keen myself...

sainge 13 April 2005 02:21 PM

In the picture of the magazine. If you look closley, you notice that the front seats in the car arent the same.

Beefy 13 April 2005 02:40 PM

That picture is basically an alfa 147 merged with a Seat Altea. In the article they mention the designers roots as being these 2 companies. Either he ran out of ideas for the design and copied his last 2 or its a blatant photoshop. ;)

Looks horrible IMHO

FrenchBoy 13 April 2005 03:28 PM

Quite frankly that is the most piss-poor excuse for a front page article I have ever seen!
Earlier comments about the Daily Sport are unfair to the Daily Sport. At least it knows that it talks complete arse (quite literally most of the time) and doesn't try to pass itself off as serious journalism.

Nice photoshop picture on the front. Looks like it was knocked together by some 12yr old in MS Paint.

Tchort 13 April 2005 03:38 PM

If its going to have a FMIC why does the picture show a bloody great big scoop on the bonnet ?

Dont think its going to look anything like the front cover, except for the crap grill that is.

ethanrob 13 April 2005 06:06 PM

is that car not just a photoshopped alfa 147?

bluenose172 13 April 2005 06:17 PM

It's such an atrocious photoshop it's not even worth talking about....but I will anyway!;)

The rear looks like a new Ibiza with the spoiler from a STi reduced to fit, it just looks pathetic. They say it is official Subaru pictures/announcement, although they couldn't actually quote anyone from Subaru.

16vmarc 13 April 2005 06:37 PM

I hope the editor reads this site, so he see me calling him a chump :D

Catherine 13 April 2005 08:40 PM

The talk about it being built on a cut down Legacy platform but that it is smaller than the current car. Can you cut down a Legacy platform that much????

Also why on earth would you put a 1.5 engine in it and where is the supposed 2.5 engine.

StickyMicky 13 April 2005 10:33 PM

autoexpress is full of ****, every time, the penny will drop soon enough lol

gotta laugh at how they have mounted that rear spoiler on that crappy photochop

7 Foot 13 April 2005 11:34 PM

Look at the rear wing FFS!!

They've stuck a Prodrive (hens tooth) WR wing on the top of an STI4 wing and then bunged the lot on the back. :D
