Swings & roundabouts.......but it is absolutely your choice who you vote for if you think a reduction in fuel duty will suit you.

i'm not gonna live in a dreamworld... fuel will not go down in price and neither will fuel duty, but i'd like to see the money put to the use it was intended for ie not coming up with more stupid schemes of how to charge people more for using the only decent transport system in the country, and using the money to improve it

Remember, China is a major exporter now, so a downturn in the western economy would reduce their demand too.........
Yep very true but would you like to sitting on the other side of the negotiating table to OPEC saying 'well in that case we will take our business elsewhere' and someone just starts sniggering on the other side of the table

In fact higher than that - almost $2 per gallon. For the avearage American, who does many multiples of the annual mileage of most British motorists, it's a major extra expense to them, and is brewing in similar political terms as it did here...

Maybe a bit of understanding of the fuel duty situation might be in order before everyone just blames the goverment as per usual!
True. But in the recent budget a council tax sweetner for the OAPs was released at £200; a one-off payment. Analysis reveals that this extra money for the OAPs totals ~£800M and would be 'reclaimed' from the oil and gas industries. Low and behold the prices go up a day later, despite duty being temporarily fixed at this budget.

Obviously Shell, BP, etc, need to make more money as £10Bn profit isnt enough...

£0.30 x 1.8 (to dollars) = $0.54
$0.54 x 3.785 (to US gallons) = $2.04 ???

Suitably corrected. I read it as 30 cents per litre. Apologies.
