i noticed it had went up the other day for no reason :confused:

53 quid in diesel for the wifes car yesterday and 46 quids worth of petrol in mine this morning, that f*cking smarts.

I filled the new car with £42 worth of diesel yesterday

put £15 worth in the scoob this morning...

its going in the paper thursday

It seems to go up by a penny or so every couple of days..........

My nearest garage was at 76.9 a month or two back. It's now at 84.9.

93.9p / litre for regular unleaded I noticed at the Texaco garage on the outskirts of the New Forest heading towards the M27

It wouldn't be so bad if the roads were any good and the money was improving the infrastructure. Went out on the push bike today as part of a keep fit drive and I must say avoiding the pot holes does wonders for your reflexes. What a mess!

It's only in 2000 that the country ground to a halt for far less.

Apparently because of the Human Rights act and legislation crazy culture local authorities now pay more out for claims than they do fixing the roads.

Could only happen with lawyers in power.

Sometimes I feel it's only me that sees this country going to the dogs, every tax you can imagine is increasing even taxes such as national insurance which aren't apparently taxes are going up. And before anyone pipes up about getting out, well get real, you can't take grandchildren away from grandparents and break up families or throwaway your pension rights and there are a whole host of reasons you can't move on. It's like saying getting bad neighbours should force you to leave your home.

I got some stone chippings the other day to replace some around the house. Apparently they are subject to a 'quarry tax' I kid you not!

Please God don't let l Labour get a third term in office.

I was down in dumfries visiting my boyfriend and he been out the uk and was shocked to see shell opitimax for his scooby was sitting at 99p a litre!!!!!

Paying 94p / litre for relular 95 octane in central Holland. Nobody is blaming the govt though.

How come Britain hasnt gone mad and started blocking the roads?? like they did before?

Soon it will be 90p for unleaded, we will go mad and they lower it to 85p and we all go happy.

69p for 98 RON in Switzerland, more in France. War in Iraq and (apparently) high demand for diesel in China is what is driving that price up.

Apart, of course, from the increasing price of crude oil, right?

Beginning of February, about $43 per barrel, now $52 or thereabouts, a 21% increase, and it looks set to test the recent high-50s highs of late March and early April. Just a thought... ;)

Still, that's the price you pay for owning a specialist vehicle in which i'm sure you do most of your miles off-road, like the majority of Discovery owners, right? :)

Maybe the high price will force a few of the chavs off the road and leave more space for decent cars ;)

That's right. Blame the goverment, after all, they have not put up fuel duty. So they're not gaining anything more from the increased prices, other than a wee bit of VAT. Fuel Duty is fixed. That's right, fixed!!! The price per litre could go to £1.50, yet the goverment would still get the same amount of fuel duty.

Maybe a bit of understanding of the fuel duty situation might be in order before everyone just blames the goverment as per usual!

If anyone is to blame, it is the speculators on the NYMEX markets in the pits in the NY exchanges. Yes, crude did have a bit of a supply problem, but not really anymore. Production is above demand once again. It's coming off it's highs of $58 last week and back down to $53 so petrol prices shouldn't go much higher in the short term (if that's any relief!).

Dont forget that the UK is also a fuel producing nation, with the increases in fuel prices the Exchequer will be benefitting

This country is just one big rip off, don't seem to matter what you buy these days you get ripped off.......... And petrol is no exception!

The demand from China has gone through the roof and oil supply is controlled by a cartel that, surprisingly enough, enjoy making gob loads of money.

We don't have enough oil ourselves therefore we have to buy it off other people and pretty much pay whatever they want, otherwise this country will grind to a halt. We're not in a very good bargining position really :(

Ah, but they don't want it going TOO high. It's not that simple is it. High oil adds to inflationary pressure, which leads to a downturn in the economy, which ultimately leads to less oil being used. Their production setup is geared to producing a fixed level of output, so it is not in OPEC's interest to let prices run away and reduce demand.....

Remember, China is a major exporter now, so a downturn in the western economy would reduce their demand too.........

Now's the perfect time to let your politician know what you think of the situation then. :)

OK....well vote for the party that is going to reduce it. The budget deficit caused by this reduction will be filled in by increasing some other form of taxation elsewhere........

Swings & roundabouts.......but it is absolutely your choice who you vote for if you think a reduction in fuel duty will suit you.
