Carl, wrong end of stick maybe but..
All I was saying is I'd buy his car for £4k, not doubting the performance directly just saying I'd give the said £4k for a genuine 400bhp 10.2 sec gti-r IUSWIM
Hell I've had 4 of the buggers, I'd gladly have another. My fondest moments were in my favourite little black H plate baby at 2 years of owning still the longest

James, I know
I'd offer him £4001 for it
I'm surprised you haven't come back to them yet, alot of people do
Jas GTR, 400 should be good for 11s (if 250 can make 12s), but not everyone can manage it.

i owned a pulsar a couple of years back they are a great car and far cheaper to tune than the scoob it cost me £600 to achieve 285bhp at 1bar at powerstation where ive put nearly £2000 in to my 93 wrx ( full de cat re-map hks sus etc ) to get simliar power the pulsar is far superior in the grunt stakes i can only imagine a 400bhp gtir would be absolutely awsome and would take most scoobies to the cleaners with simliar power.... as also mentioned in thread they also come in red grey and rare of rare green..

The Gti-r engine set up is very good. They come with quad throttle bodies as standard, something which the s14 never got (however got VVT thing on black tops.)
They also come with a decent sized t28. They easily make 300bhp ish, a decent cooler, boost, exhaust etc.
Great cars, just cost a small fortune to run-dont be fooled by the asking price.

my brother had a red/grey one, that was pushing out just under 300bhp (proven too) the only prob he had was the clutch, he found it hard to find one which was up to the job!
he sold it a while ago and still to this day he misses it

400bhp,10.2,nah i smell bu!!****!.sorry lee i think your mate is telling porky pies.mine runs over 350bhp and its not realistically close to slipping into the tens.if the car is setup for 2bar of boost, why does he poodle about at0.7bar?doesnt seem likely.maybe he needs to come to a gtir meet to let us owners see this beast.www.gtiroc.com for details of up and coming meets.
madrod, was good to meet you at bruntingthorpe the other day(i was one of the pulsar owners)good luck for totb mate.

As owner of a Pulsar for 5 years, following the R scene, and running my own theory performance web site, I can tell you I think some people here have taken that 10.2 too seriously, the bloke who made that comment is obviously widing you up big time! And its common knowledge that Lou's R did an incorrect 10.0run when threre was a co*k up with Santapods timing equipment that run, don't believe that video either.
With a genuine 400bhp, and standard weight (1220kg) it isn't going to be any quicker than 11.5secs if he's lucky, maybe a couple of tenths less (11.3) if its been seriously stripped to say 1100kg, but thats if everythings perfectly setup with decent gearbox etc, the chances are it will be higher 11's.
He'll need a stripped GtiR with about a serious 750bhp to acheive 10.2secs !!!
Have a play with my performance calculator on my site, the site will be having a total revamp this weekend, with articles, links, new stats, even better formulas etc, so check it out next week......

He took the car to santa pod last year and recons he did a quarter mile in 10 2 sec can this really be true.

Pete - My bro's Pulsar had full respray in impact blue, so your right, it wasn't a standard colour. It also had a full rebuild by ND etc running 1.7bar at one time, Hybrid Turbo, 6 pots brakes, etc so pretty decent R, but he did have a few problems with it. He's now a happy owner of a highly modified Evo5, but admits its even more expensive to run!

Rob-I'm here but not been online much lately.Carl-shat it!!.
I've had mine rebuilt with the aim to make around 400bhp on 1.8bar with a TD MD214 turbo(in between GT28-GT3071 IIRC).After driving it for the first 150 miles or so on 0.67 bar I know it will take nothing like 1.8bar to make 400bhp(I'm guessing 1.4bar) as it has so much more power/torque than pre-rebuild when it produced 333bhp/290lbft @ 1.15bar on the standard T28.That was good enough for 12.7sec 1/4 @ 106mph.I've also run a 12.3s @ 110mph 1/4 in a mates GTiR at santa pod and that only had 311bhp so you only need around 350bhp or so to crack 11s passes given ideal conditions.
It's a shame my gearbox is letting me down(not the standard item)despite being built twice already and not even covered 1000miles!!!
As for a 400bhp car running 10.2secs,I think there was a car for sale on ebay a while back claiming this and it was pretty much much though of as bullsh!t by the GTiR community. It defies physics unless the car weighs 600-700kg which isn't going to happen unless it's just a rolling chassis with CF transmission and helium filled 10" spacesavers.

Any light 400BHP car will beat a standard scoob I have had trouble with stripped out turbo'd XR2s in the past.
So, pretentious...........................YES!!!

Sounds like you need to grow up to me, arguing with him over who's car is best.. it sounds like he is talking rubbish though..

Talking of fast Datsuns, nisr227 I had a look at your site for some R35 GTR times. They are a fair bit slower than the real world. Car and Driver did 11.5s at 120mph, and Autocar did 0-100 in 8.5, both standard. One I just started tuning did 11.1s at 127mph at Santa Pod last weekend, on stock tyres, it is full weight and only has about 560 BHP. The gearbox is quite special which probably helps a lot, plus good aero and little lag, but I'm noticing that they are accelerating as well as Evos and Scoobies with similar power, even though there is a 300kg typical weight difference.
