You need to really consider it as a second car, esp if you have family or do any mundane commuting on a daily basis. A Scoob is a superb daily driver and a sports car in one but compromises both functions. An Exige is uncompromisinlgy an out and out sports car with virtually no practicality. Don't get the clio V6 over an Exige that would be madness IMHO. If you want a clio get the 172/182 Cups. Almost as fast as the V6, much cheaper, and practical to boot.

I've had a 172 (the missus currently runs one aswell) I really like the look of the V6 and it's had some very favourable reviews (Clarkson put it in his top ten of all time and John Barker said it was also one of the best cars he had ever driven/owned).
I'd be tempted by the Exige if I thought I could use it as a daily driver to and from work. Is there even anywhere to put the shopping??!
I dont have kids so I'm not worried about that sort of thing.

About £30-34000 depending on spec.

£850 for age 37, limited mileage, no no claims, south East London, SP30, off street but no garage. Not too bad really.

Have the use of a second car but never bother with that!!!

Already racked up 7000 miles. Stage 2 Exhaust, Induction kit on order and I still drive it every day. Great fun. Only problems I have had is the numerous passenger rides I have had to give to peeps and the snow. Oh and the hydraulic arm for the boot replaced under warranty.

The boot is actually bigger than you think its just that everything has to go through a small gap. I managed to go away for a week with the girly and have all our stuff in there......just!!!!

Oh and there might be a supercharger on its way......

More performance focussed - downforce, suspension, brakes etc, styling more aggressive, looks better IMHO.

Of course no drop top which may be an advantage or a disadvantage, depends on your perspective.

Exige does theTop Sneer Stig cicuit in a very good time, just behind the Gallardo etc!

Zoog, did you consider a second hand Noble for that price? If so what made you opt for the Lotus.

Only fleetingly. My mind was pretty much made up really, it is never entirely rational when you buy a car, and I just fancied the whole "owning a Lotus" thing as well as the Exige's merits. Guess it stems from childhood liking Esprits and James Bond movies!

No regrets so far. Except the dealer saying can't fit in the 1000 mile service till 14th april so I ve now got to limit the mileage a bit Should have booked it the day I bought it.

Now what you mean. The James Bond bit I defo understand as a diehard fan!

I drove a Sagaris today, disappointed by the interior but nice car otherwise.
Going to test drive the Noble next week. I suppose I should take the Exige out aswell as they are similar cars?

Sound like you're in the market for a beefy sports car, reading your Sagaris thread. (Good review BTW.) Do take an Exige out, but I suspect you may not like the relatively wimpy engine compared to the powerplants in theTVR/Noble/996 etc that you are comparing. There is very little torque in the Exige, max 133ft/lb @ 6800, and you have to wring it out at 6000-8000 revs to really shift, but it sounds almost like an F1 car at that level, which is a GOOD THING in my book!

I reckon the Exige is about £10k cheaper than the bracket you are really interested in, but it is worth a look.

Yeah I think the Exige may lack some power(for me) thats why I've never really considered one. The handling is probably exactly what I'm after though, shame they d'ont make one with more oomph.
As for the £10k cheaper, I'd be more than happy to spend £10k less! I'm almost hoping I w'ont like the Noble, so I d'ont get tempted to spend the money

ps Porsche is a great car, but I'd like to avoid one if I can

I bought an series 1 Exige last week, and have now booked it in to have a 300bhp audi fitted.. car + conversion all in is going to cost about £23K.

The 250bhp demo audi-engined car I went in at the weekend redefines FAST.. I mean.. stupid fast.

Hi David.
What exactly is this conversion? Who does it?

If we are talking about the 1.8 Audi TT/SEAT engine then to get 380bhp from it is going to cost £15k plus.

Personally I'm a little weary of major conversions like that. If things d'ont go smoothly and the modifier c'ant sort it out you're buggered.

Yes, but I'm not talking going 380+ I'm going just to 300bhp which is only £6-7K if you p/x your engine.. in such a small car it's phenomenal.

LOL.. you tried getting Lotus themselves to fix anything ? I know what you mean though.. I was the guinea pig that had the 260bhp TurboTechnics supercharged Exige.. Once the conversion was finalised everything was smooth, but I was tired of going back to get it tweaked, that's why I've waited for others be the guinea pig this time.
