I've recently finished Spook Country by William Gibson, not bad at all, up to his usual standard and there is still some continutiy from other novels in there, specically Pattern Recognition.
I've also just read Marley & Me by John Grogan. A very personal account of life with Marley the yellow lab.
I'm waiting for the new Terry Pratchet book, Making Money, to be released (ooh, looks like it's out today!) at which point I'll have something else to read. Until it turns up I'll probably re-read The Deathly Hallows.

Nearly finished the Black Magicians Trilogy Book One - Magicians Guild, really enjoying it.
Recently finished Frederick Forsyth - The Afghan
OMG! how bad is this book, I read FF many years ago and quite enjoyed his stuff but this is poor, very poor. No plot, no build up, no character definition and no real ending.
Maybe my reading tastes are becoming a little more refined, but this book was really really bad, I was angry when I finished it as it was such a waste of time.
I keep all my books, I don't sell them and I don't throw then away, i do give some away though, but I really am tempted to burn this.................

Thanks for resurrecting this Hail hail... I couldn't find it for the life of me the other day.
Read the Afghan also. I quite enjoyed it but do agree it came to an abrupt end.
Got the new Ken Follet on order, World Without End. Begins back in 1327 ! So should be a nice long read.
As for the final destination of my books. I usually plonk them on Amazon for re-sale. They seem to sell pretty regularily and its better to get something back for them than to just chuck them .

Currently reading: One Hundred Days - The memoirs of Admiral Sandy Woodward, commander of the Falklands battle group.
Cracking read about his past, the strains of command in the field and a particularly enjoyable passage of how he put one over on a US carrier battle group by pretending to be an Indian passenger ferry

OK, so finished the Black Magician Trilogy, very good
Also just finished Northern Lights (The Golden Compass), quite good and the first in another trilogy, so starting the 2nd now.
Have not seen the film, but not best rated by all accounts.
I have read My Booky Wook, the Russell Brand autobio, very good. Been downloading his podcasts for ages and have listened to almost all of his 6 Music shows and Radio shows. Makes me laugh out loud.
Got the Ranulph Finnes Auotbio to get through also. Will keep you posted.
Also just got Replay back from my dad, so I think I will read it again, top quality

'The Subtle Knife' gave me nightmares!
I thought it was the best of the three.

Told you Replay was good didn't I
I can remember being on the verge of tears in Paphos airport reading that with my wife looking at me very strangely
Just starting Tai-Pan by James Clavell. Not read any of his before so thought I'd give it a go but I'm regretting it big time at the moment

If anyone is into the Romans, I can recommend Simon Scarrow. He's done about 8 books so far in a series on the Romans and it is compulsive reading.
Think I mentioned Conn Iggulden, he of the tales of Julius Caeser from a small boy through to his demise, and also now, his Genghis Khan books. Great reads all of them.

Just coming to the end of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.
Good fun read, especially the part chasing down a bad guy at 85mph in the outside lane of the motorway... In a helicopter

Just finished:
How to pass the new police selection system.
Just started:
Communicating effectively for dummies.
Would read again:
the entire Resnick Novels by John Harvey, but once you know the ending to a crime thriller it doesn't seem to make sense.
and also:
Great lies to tell small kids.

Been a while..................
Working form home at the moment so books have been taking a back seat to Battlefield: Bad Company on teh 360.
I have however just finished Christopher Brookmyres latest 2 books
A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil
and
Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks
both quite good, but no really up to the standard set in his earlier books, especially A Tale Etched......
Just started Robert Ludlum - The Ambler Warning.
Has caught me straight away, haven't read Ludlum for years.
What ye been reading then...............?

Timebomb by Gerald Seymour and also the Dan Shepherd series of books by Stephen Leather (I didn't like Leather's earlier books but enjoyed these) enough excitement to keep me reading without being too heavy on the brain - for that I'm currently wading through Ablaze: Story Of Chernobyl.
