Regards the 14 day thing - IIRC the requirement is that they have to send the NIP out to the registered keeper within 14 days. If you get it after 16 days, but it was postmarked/dated at 13 days, you have no escape.

Curious, what if the postmark on the envelope is illegible(sp?)

If they've spelt your name wrong on the NIP, and they had the correct info to hand, you're off the hook. Stuff like that has to be correct legally. Have your 20 free minutes with a brief, he should confirm this.

The 14 day rule ( I'll explain that exactly below ) only applies if everything is straight forward. By that I mean if you own the car and live at the registered address, you have not just moved, bought the car etc. If it is a company car or a hire car etc then plod has longer to track up down. If it is a company car then I would assume that the address is given as your company, in which case you are stuffed.
The 14 days starts the day after the offence but includes one day for it to arrive. It must be posted to you so that, in the normal course of the post, it arrives within 14 days. So, it must be posted 13 days after the day of the offence. I looked very closely into this because I had my only speeding offence ( 37 in a 30 ) cancelled because it was sent on the 14th day after the offence, so it was not possible to receive it until the 15th day. It took 2 letters before they admitted they where wrong. If the police insist on enforcing the letter of the law then they must expect it enforced back on them.

Btw, ALWAYS ask for photographic evidence of the alleged incident if it involves a camera. Don't just accept it. It's your right to see proof of evidence.

So just to clarify, when i request the photographic evidence, how long after i got the NIP should I do this and should i send the request to the office that issued the NIP or to the Chief Constable that is mentioned on the NIP ?

They have to serve it on the registered owner of the car within 14 days plus a reasonable time for postage (1st class). It is up to the registered owner to tell them who was driving the car at the time. That is when it will of course take longer to get the NIP to the driver which is acceptable by the court.
If the details on a summons are incorrect you can plead not guilty but I doubt it on a NIP.

Put down the driver as :
Mr Husain
20 Village Square
Bagdad
Iraq
You have completed the form and from that point on they have to take the matter up with the driveras named.

Firstly, my name is spelt wrong on the NIP.
Secondly i am sure the speed limit is 50mph there, but will check later on.
Thirdly the date of the alleged offence is 2/2/05 and i received the NIP today on the 24/2/05 so thats a whole 22 days after, which i beleive is too long (14 days).
I had a look on the pepipoo site and it seems to confirm the 14 day thing, but whats the deal if they spelt my name wrong ?

Make sure you look into this. We got a letter about 4 or 5yrs ago, saying we were speeding somewhere in wales, we'd never been to wales in our life, when we looked into it further, they thought our car could be a possible ringer, but when all comes to all there was one number or letter different on the reg plate. Still avent been to wales

Its a company car so the 14 day thing is out of the window.....the spelling mistake can also be rectified by the slip rule.
Already have a long thread running on Pepipoo !!

Be careful of the name mis-spell. If the dvla have the wrong name, then so do you and it's YOUR responsibility to ensure they have the correct details. This is as likely as them 'accidentally' mis-spelling your name.
