I've got a valid MOT and had it done with the current plate on! So no I haven't altered it, I never put the plate on it, it was on it when I bought it and never even gave it a second glance as it really didn't stand out and make me think there was anything wrong with it. Thats what i'm getting at, its not a p!ss taking plate the size of a cigarette packet or got lettering in italics thats barely readable. Its simply lettering that is slightly different to standard. It would be read by any ANPR as its very plainly readable! So giving me a fine for it was totally unnecassary other than for raising cash.
These no response personnel, shouldn't they be helping out with more important tasks like the bundles of paperwork we always hear the police complaining about that they have to do, then if there were more people clearing the red tape quicker real criminals going to court would get to court quicker?
I can just imagine the briefing now for this anti bike operation, right lads issue as many tickets as possible and annoy the **** out the bikers, oh and whoever raises the most cash gets a promotion! When the police want to be improving community relations they are instead p!ssing off more and more groups by the day. And they wonder why so many people have such a bad attitude towards them
I've met my fair share of good coppers and bad coppers, unfortunately the jobsworths/cash raisers are becoming the majority now and the sensible ones who use discretion are becoming a dieing breed.

If you have bought the bike with non-standard plates then its buyer beware. I have not seen your plates and if they are not as bad as you say then you may have a case at court.
The briefing would be to comply with the law and force policy concerning traffic regulations as this was obviously a traffic offences operation. Therefore i would suggest that your force's current policy is to issue a fixed pen tickets to non-standard plates. Lights etc may get a verbal warning or defect form.

BTW I still can't see how you can think sending out officers from say an armed response unit to act as traffic wardens is a good use of resources. I have no issues with spot checks on the road as yes you may well catch someone doing something dodgey but to deliberately target a bike park where the owners wont be about is nothingless than easy cash generation. Its indefensable. You say my non standard plate is a defect, how exactly? Its easily readable, its not too small, its not dangerous or cause any destraction to other road users. All it is is a very minor technicality, not a defect as it has no bearing on the safety of my bike. I am all for taking vehicles off the road with defects, defects such as no MOT and being dangerous through bald tyres or no brakes, drivers with no insurance or licences. However targetting bikes that are parked up for the day isn't going to get you any results on checking for MOT's or licenses or insurance. Its only going to get you minor indescrepancies that you can issue a fine for that isn't in fact going to make the roads any safer what so ever. If its not making the roads safer through removing dangerous vehicles or drivers then its a total waste of police time. The public do not see issuing fines for technicalities a good use of police resources, its cash generation which the whole country is on to the police about and very p!ssed off about.
****, remind me not to venture too far north from T-W then
I have zero tolerance on any ***** like burglars, you know me and you know that is the truth. I'm not getting involved in all this thread as I really can't be arsed
However my crew member and I have been involved in nicking, 2 people for Theft from builders vans on Yew Tree Road, 1 for burglary from the lottery kiosk in the RVP, 1 for threatening some Skinners kids by the 5 ways with a fake handgun, 1 for arson in Calverley Park and 1 for supplying drugs. In the last week. However in the downtime from these jobs, I've given out about 4 tickets for XS Speed ranging from 45 along St Johns to 120 on the A21. Also done about 5 for moblie phones, 5 for kids with no seatbelts, 1 for driving reading a book, 1 for having an insecure load, 2 for number plates that were taking the p1ss and 1 for ignoring a red light. Oh and about 6 VDRS. See, some of us still work.

LOL you've had a busy week mate
I'm glad I don't use the A21 anymore then, but then you'd have trouble catching me in that ropey old Skoda you've got
They are still using Volvo T5's on the M20 so I have to be a good boy - i've seen how fast they go lol

We do have zero tellerance on burglars..!!!
The thing that annoys me is that one bad experience over a minor traffic infringement seems to automatically cast doubt on the service we provide in total. Policing and its management are very complex and cover a great amount of grey areas.

Felix Chill mate.
99% of people don't mind being stopped by a 'real' police officer and dealt with.
What they do object to is what Bob is talking about.
Now I know Bob and he knows me, we both know where each other are coming from. I have to say I agree with him on this.
Catch someone on the road and they are fair game. Wait until they leave their car/bike and stick a ticket on it for this and it's stupid. IMHO.
As for those who complain about getting stopped, let them get on with it.
Half of the stuff they post on here about what happened is BS anyway.

On the roads fair game, at least you get to have an argument face to face over what you've done
None of those events were even in Sherwood or Showfields, you had the easy shift then.
Well now i've got a ropey old Skoda I feel I can comment on their ropiness, but do need the same mods as you've got
as for scarey in the rear view mirror, thats down to that looney Daisy you were with who appeared out of no where and cut up about 4 cars going across the round about to catch up with me lol

We haven't the time to wait for the biker to return, if its on the road travelling - fine you can argue your point. But if an offence is seen on a parked bike are you wanting us to ignore it. Would that be fair on the biker caught on the road.
There are millions of individual laws in this country from murder to minor traffic regulations. Its our job to manage and uphold this law.
Bravo2Zero,
I can honestly say as an armed reponse officer in Manchester i have never ever heard of us being sent out as traffic wardens!!
Good way of making sure you pay your fine though, might make a suggestion to my bosses, more money in the kitty!!!!
Again i'm laughing my socks off at another great debate, just watch you change sides and opinions throughout. One minute there's not enough police on the streets so we tell you how response teams are set up to help with this, the next you're saying they should all be inside sorting paperwork out!!!! Sheesh make your mind up mate!
To all officers out there reading this, WE'LL NEVER CHANGE OPINONS ON HERE, GIVE IT UP AND JUST KEEP DOING WHAT WE GET PAID TO DO!!!!
So what if someone doesn't like getting caught out with a dodgy plate, if he's so sure its straight take it to court, you'll get off if its ok. Another example of moaning at us after getting caught out again. I don't agree with some things officers are asked to do or do off their own backs but it wasn't me who did it so stop moaning at me!!
If you ask a serious question, I and every other cop on here will bend over backwards to help but I for one ill not apologise for every speeding ticket, every non trackered car that goes missing etc!

I have been checking back on this thread regularly and am amazed at how it has developed, I feel (as the original poster) I need to clarify in fewer words what I said at the beginning:
Whenever I travel in my car I am permanently paranoid that I am going to get stopped by police or flashed by a scamera. Yet there are others out there who apparently have no fear of any authority and 'happily' wander round committing the vilest of atrocities
Yes I did moan about the fact I had been stopped by the police, for travelling 10mph below the speed limit, but I feel I was justified to do so, after all, it was dark and snowing heavily.
I never intended this thread to become a 'police bashing' session.

I'd rather deal with people face to face to be honest. I don't have to walk round car parks, where I won't get any confrontation, to get my process.

Felix claims your type of unit for example would be used on duties such as ticketing bike parks, yet you say you have never seen your unit put on these type of duties. I'm not surprised because I think its laughable that a specialised unit such as armed response would ever be used for such menial tasks.
As for his argument against mine where I said more coppers should be out responding to urgent calls for help and him saying its not response officers that are used for ticketing duties, well the officer who gave me the ticket was a standard bobby on the beat so no not an officer from some other division helping out. Obviously couldn't find anything better to do than write out tickets.
Also the fact she is a new recruit makes me laugh, good to see she was being trained up on the important duties first such as targetting motorists for issuing fines. She should have applied to be a traffic warden to do that. Surely a new recruit should be being trained up on the important parts of the job first such as catching real criminals?
