I think Henry is a great player and anyone who says they wouldnt want him in their team is talking **** (no pun intended). That said I agree he has been found wanting in many bigs matches, especially outside the premiership.

Yes hes arrogant but as someone said, most of the great players are. Maradona and Cantona prime examples.

Ruud is a totally different player. IIRC he's the 2nd highest goal scorer of all time in the champions league - not far behind Raul and having played a lot fewer matches. So what if he doesnt score outside the box - yes thats nice to watch but if he scores a goal I dont care.

I think Henry is definetly the bettter player to watch and provides more than just goals with some great link up play and assists. Ruud is an out and out striker and it shows - no matter what the match he has the skill and the character to score when it matters.

Simon.

All Strikers that play for Man U are going to do well - it's one of the things that makes Utd such a great Team. I reckon I could score more goals than Henry If I played for Utd - OK - I might have gone too far with that one - but you know what I mean .

I think many strikers weve had will disprove that statement. Ive always thought one of our best qualities in the past was having players that can score from all over the park. Weve missed this recently until Scholes and Giggs got back into form and Ronaldo starting netting a few. Its what you need to kill off those 1-0 games that can slip away at the last minute or to grab 3 pts in games that are heading for a 0-0 draw. Its clearly won Chelsea many games this season also.

I honestly think over the past few seasons Henry has had the better service so I totally disagree with your statement.

Simon.

Are you trying to wind me up ?

Ruud is a goal hanger, Henry is a play maker & striker and Henry has had the better service.

Life on Mars suiting you well Simon ????

Yeah there has been some ****e at WHL over the last 20 years I am the first to admit it ( And watch a good proportion of it ) But as for not being known outside England, I think thats a bit wide of the mark, just because armchair supporters haven't seen us on sky in the champions league doesn't mean we are unkown in Europe !! Anyone would think we had never won anything in Europe

As for Defoe making the trip down the severn sisters road like judas, he will
once a season when we play the scum at the Library !!
Then when we have to come to the half empty new stadium !!
Mind they will need him when this 4 british player rule comes in !!
I say bring it in next season and watch the scum slide down the league

If Spurs were to play in Europe most teams would think they had drawn a third division side who must have got lucky in a Cup Competition . Don't get me wrong Spurs are indeed a much improved side and could start to challenge for a European place - But you'll need to start playing every game like you do against the "Scum".

A third division side !! We haven't got that bad just yet !!

I do agree we are a much improved side, but unfortuanatley as most spurs fans who go to WHL will tell you how frustrating it is watching such an inconsistant side !!

Spurs are huge in Scandinavia and have a large following in Ireland as well

Strange but true

I'd give spurs a bit more time with the consistency Jol has only been there 5 minutes and you can see what he and Arnesen (sp??) are looking to build, I'd say they are potentially exciting times ahead for the Spurs.

With RVN scoring all his goals in the penalty area he is scoring from chances given to him by his team mates, Henry makes a scores goals all over, so he is the better player, IMO (not as good as Lampard though)

And how do you fathom that logic? A great asset of any striker is putting themself in a good position to receive a ball or drop off a defender. Working some space in a crowded area is surely harder than dropping a shoulder and losing a defender 30 yards from goal to create a chance?

Like I said in my other posts - Henry is the better overall player when you take into account creativity, movement, skill and shooting ability. That doesnt mean hes the best striker IMHO. There are other attributes - a key one being able to deliver when your most needed - something most would agree has been Henrys downfall (other than blinkered gooner fans).

I would have Henry at OT no problem. However I think RVN has done a better job as a striker than Henry could have if we had bought him instead.

Got to laugh at all you lot.

You should come and watch the Wednesday....everybody knows that that Steve Maclean - 18 goals this season is better than Ruud Van Nistlerooy and Henry put together

for my 2p - I think Henry is a decent bloke - thats the way he come across in his interviews.

As for Viera - he's the real to$$er - and an arrogant thug

I haven't fathomed anything Simon, it seems we are in agreement, Henry is the better player, as from my previous post.
Not being a blinkered gooner fan I couldn't comment . How about from your blinkered Man U seat

The Gooners got out of jail yesterday

If the ref had to send Bergkamp off why didn't he also send off Toure and Reyes they both got some nice slaps around the Utd players faces with their gloves on, bless. raised hands and all that Is this the Arsenal of old returning to type when things dont go their way

Better add that to the list as well Ted

Paul - do you only read certain bits of a post? You basically said that Ruud only scores because its laid on a plate by his team mates - which I disagree with.

How is my view blinkered? I, as a utd fan have said Henry is the better overall player. I dont see one positive comment from anyone other than Utd fans towards RVN even though he has scored more consistently in every competition (club and country) other than the premiership. Now tell me whose blinkered?

Simon.

an as for not performing for france... ....we'll he's not used like he's ment to be used, now that zidane ain't in the side, ypou soon see him take more of a hold of the team.

if anyone who dosen't like him ,actually went to see him play live they'd soon realise what all the hype's about, is off the ball movement is unlike anyone in the world,

IMHO when he's finished in football he'll be looked back upon in the same light as pele an maradonna!!

LOL - Keane in his mid thirties had the filthy lanky forkwit in his pocket AGAIN when they met last... Same as he did with Gerard - dont make me laugh... Viera can only compete for 'best central defensive mid in the world .mate' when Keane hangs up his boots
As for terry henry - an all round better player but NOT as good a striker... I'd like Ruud and terry together in my team but not henry instead of ruud...

Sorry Simon My "Henry has had the better Service" was a sarcastic question .

Goal hangers get better service - We are (I think) agreed on that .

If Ruud scores all his goals from inside the box (your statement not mine) then how does the ball get there ?
