Thumbs up Thumbs Up....

Okay...so i was at Power Engeneering this morning...

Had my tracking done - Pro Drive setting...
Car handles great...vibration gone aswell as the pulling to one side..

Was off near 8degrees on the fronts..!

POWER RUN

Improvement from before: 311bhp @ 279lb

Only changes from the previous run were:
  • Plug change
  • Look over of the map, to ensure all is ok
So Thumbs up for Pavlo for putting up with the problems and resolving them for me..no doubt he will be hearing from me in the near future for my next mod...!

If i get 23bhp from putting my plugs in that'll see me to 300.

Good on you for persisting Sam.

We did make a few tweaks to the map right at the top end, but biggest difference was the plugs. I think we can probably eek out a few more hp, as at the moment things are slightly on the safe side due to being so close to maxing out the MAF at peak power. With a little more headroom from the maf I think it could run 1.4 bar flat boost rather than dropping at the top end to 1.3

Nice one Sam!

Think I will check out my own plug gaps.. as I have a feeling that they are either inconsistent or just too damn big
Then back on the rollers for me soon...

In my experience the 97/98 maf will run to 350bhp+ before saturating, It's certainly capable of anything a TD05-16G can pull through it !

we are hitting 5.11 volts at 1.35bar with the current setup. It did seem to saturate rather early considering the results I've seen with the 96 maf which is very similar.

Sounds a bit odd ? Removing the mesh screen and a mild porting out of the step change in body ID can improve the range quite a bit. As can certain CAKs !

As Andy knows, my MAF ( MY94 ! ) max's out by 5900 on a ickle TD05-16g turbo, but mapped for the airflow anyway!

Andy - any benefit for me removing mesh and matching internal diameters in plastic housing / rubber hoses etc. ?

See ya Sunday

Yes Neil, for fine fueling control at the top end but it would need remapped to compensate for the differing airflow signal.
Is your 363bhp not enough for you from a TD05

Hehe

Probably leave it for now then, works very well as it is, just was wondering if it would get the airflow on scale in case that helped the ECU !

Suppose best going for 300zx MAF and 3 bar MAP, with TD05-18g if I go further ... prefer to stay wit hTMIC but would I need / benefit from a FMIC?

Actually, on Std JDM WRX internals I think I should stay where I am and just do minor improvements like get TMIC water spray working properly, lag o/s headers and up-pipe, cold air feed to air filter etc.!

Cheers

See ya Sunday!
(911 is running there, I am coming to watch! ).

I'd stay where you are ! Just tidy up the little bits as you say to keep the power up during the summer months.

See you Sunday

Neil:
Did you realy get that power/torque from a 16g?
Can't wait to see what a 20g will do.

Hope the snow goes for Sunday.

Okay,

Still unclear to why both runs showed such a Low Torque figure:

Engine Advantages: 272lbft
Power Engineering: 279lbft

How can I raise the Torque and bhp figures just slightly more, as there are plenty of UK cars here that are less modded then my car pushing more power…
