I bought them from ex British Rallycross champion John Welch down in Alton, but you can buy them from a few of the online places. They are pretty soft but they dont half stick.

 

Any idea what they are like in the wet John?

Ive a day at croft coming up in April, so I'll probably be in the market for a new set fairly soon. Blackcircles seem to them reasonably priced (£86 215/40/17)

 

I run a diferent tread pattern to those due to my tyre size, which is a bit more of an alrounder, but the compound is the same. They are very good in the wet and dry. I cant say how well those work in the wet, havnt heard any complaints from the guy i know who runs them, in the dry you wont find anything grippier though.

You can get them cheaper if you look around.

Just bear in mind they are too soft for track use, i can leave big darkies off roundabouts with them in summer.

 

Whats the wear rate on the Maragonis?

 

300 Although mine are lasting amazingly well considering i am putting 290BHP through 205/55x16 back tyres. They grip much better than most so i am not wearing them away like i would with a harder tyre that would suffer more wheelspin, as strange as that might sound.

 

They'll be post track day, I think the toyos will be pretty destroyed after a day at croft plus 8500 miles worth of road (ab)use

 

I didn't end up with the Pirellis as planned but against my better judgement ended up with Toyo T1-Rs and I have to say, so far they're much better than the Proxes were and about the same as the smaller Goodyears I had on. I've only driven in the dry so far and have yet to test them on my understeer corner but so far they seem better although what effect moving up to 18s has in the equation, I don't know.

 

What the difference between the T1-S & T1-R, do you know?

As time goes by I am getting more impressed by these, loads of grip. A little bit understeery at the mo but I will stiffen the rear anti roll bar to see if that helps. No way I would pay the premium for GSD3's and if they last longer, that'll be grand
Tyres seem fine in the dry with bags of stopping power for ultra late breaking!
Also good when greasy, yet to try them when the road is really wet.

What price are most others paying?

Well after spending several days reading this thread, went to buy some F1's today as the Happy Shopper tyres I have on my 02 STi makes the steering wheel redundant on damp roundabouts (bought the car with them on and now they're worn--yippeeeee !!).

Jim Jeffries in Warrington £105 per corner for 17x225x45. Seems good value

Anyway, queued up for half hour then drove my car in. Realized I couldn't find the locking nut attachment. I had the wheel off the other day, so must of left it in the garden, so embarrased, returned home to look for it. Couldn't find it anywhere. I came to the conclusion that I may of left it on the wheel and drove off, so went on the search. Found it down the road from my house on someones garden!!!!!

Had F1's on my Supra previously and rate them highly from that experience.

Ah-ha, so the newly fitted T1R gripped better than worn F1's (in the damp). New tyre effect? (I used to race 'bikes and it's very noticeable in that arena)

Am tempted by T1S's as there's a helluva deal on them at moment (presumably as the T1R is replacing it). The F1 is my long-term favourite though.

Anyone know how well T1S's stand up to trackday use? (also, whilst I really like em for the road, I gather F1's aren't the best on the track?)

Had the T1-R's on for about 3 weeks now and to be honest I'm not sure they've improved a lot from new. Unless these last for absolutely ages I think I'll probably go back to the F1's when these have had it. This isn't to say that the Toyo is a bad tyre, it's just that I don't have the faith in them that I did in the F1's.

I'm still in need to 2 tyre's on the back for the MOT - will I have any probs putting the T1-R's on the back and putting the F1s on the front?
