Ok we really need more than this to make it worthwhile. I can get a Dentman, Trim repair/ windscreen repair and a Graphics guy there for the day but need to know if they will be used as its a Sunday and needs to be worth there while.

No i dont think so m8 it was a lot of hassle last year but if we know a "large" number will be arriving we may be able to sort something

The best rate I can get from the Swan Hotel in the High St is £80/double and £70/single - higher than last year I know but they are looking forward to lots of you staying there. They have blocked their central system and agents from making bookings in order to reserve space for us, so you need to call them direct on 01420 83777 and mention the Scooby Meet - first come, first served.

The Wheatsheaf pub in Market Square has been taken over by new people since last year and they are promising to open early and serve cooked breakfasts - their licence means they can't serve alcohol before 12 but they will feed you when you arrive! Pizza Express also planning to open early and serve bacon butties to take away. There will be an Italian coffee wagon in the corner of Market Sq and a good burger wagon in the High St for teas, bacon rolls, burgers etc.

Plenty of good places for lunch - Wheatsheaf and Market Hotel pubs in the Square and the Kings Head opposite in Market St. Just down the hill opposite Square is a new pub opened since last year - The Leathern Bottle - owned by local brewery Triple F, who do excellent real ales for those not driving! Also in Market Square for lunch is Pizza Express and Prezzo - a good Italian restaurant. There are more pubs around the town centre and afish 'n chip shop at the end of the High St where the Scoobies will be parked.

Entertainment will be provided by Kai Jansen, the singer/guitarist, playing outside Pizza Express as last year, a wandering street entertainer, Lady Madge, who does a comedy juggling act with a fire-juggling finale (better keep her well-away from the WRXs then!) and a bouncy castle for the kids.

Parking - we'll fill Market Square first, followed by the High St and then the Ladyplace car park, which joins onto the Market Square. I'll try and reserve blocks in the car park for big groups but the rest will have to be first come, first served from 0900 onwards.

How do you manage the meet, ie do we need to register (apart form adding to this list), car passes, etc...
Or is it just a case of anyone showing up with a Scoob is allowed onto the High St. ? Wot time is it kicking off ?

Just posted this in the Essex Scooby Crew section.Could be handy for anyone else coming from the east.

Directions to Alton town centre (High St, Market Sq and overflow car park)

A31 from east - Farnham/Guildford

(1) Keep straight on at first roundabout signposted right to Alton
(2) Turn left off A31 at slip road signposted Basingstoke/Alton A339
(3) Turn right at bottom of slip road
(4) Forward to double mini-roundabout
(5) Turn right under railway arch, signposted town centre
(6) Pass Butts Green on left
(7) Pass BP garage on right
(8) As road bends to right with

supermarket on corner, turn left into High St
(Control point)

77-85 High Street
Alton
GU34 1LG

The Swan Hotel report only 3 rooms booked so far at the special Scooby Meet rate. They have a waiting list and will have to release the remaining rooms reserved for us very soon. So make your minds up and getting booking without further delay!

The signs are now up in Alton notifying the townfolk of what's taking place on Sunday and what parts of the town will be closed. The mother-in-law who lives near Alton told me so.
