Think I just missed you today john, popped over to oulton to watch supertouring go round, and got the bonus of seeing the lambo galardo too
Then saw a murkylargo on the way home, very nice
Just trying out my new camera today, but I think it was beginning to freeze in my hands
RRH, do you know the best place to post up pictures you've taken so everyone can see them from the runners today?
chris.

DVD sounds good and def worth getting. I've also heard a few people talk about learning the corners on a game. One guy commented this method was ok but didn't give any indication of inclines. Something not true of the DVD?
Also, anyone have any idea which game(s) has the ring on it?

Sorry i missed you Chris, i had to leave about 2pm.
You get a very good insight into the inclines from the DVD Michael, especially from the rear facing cameras. We have also included a gradient indicator syncronised to the track position to show you the severity of climbs and descents.
The oldest game with the nurburgring on is probably Grand Prix Legends, the new GT4 game has the circuit too.

The DVD features that lap Alcazar, but we have used it as a basis for the 2nd detailed graphics lap with full comentary, so the music isnt as per the video hosted on my website. Theo produced the original music on that, which is superb, as you say very atmospheric.
When the footage was filmed, the engine and gearbox was standard STi5 TypeRA Limited spec, so it has approx 276BHP and the higher 5th gear of the Limited, with the close ratio 1st to 4th gear of the normal RA. The car still had its OEM exhaust and Cat, with a scoobymania backbox. Suspension is Leda coilovers, whiteline ARB's, ALK, powerstation bumpsteer mod and geometry setup at Prosport. The brakes are AP Racing 330mm 4 pots front with standard 2 pot rear, braided hoses. It's running on 215/40x17 Bridgestone SO2 PP tyres.
As they say, power is nothing without control, in the DVD you get to see how a well setup Impreza with its stock 8000rpm STi engine can be exploited on the most challenging circuit there is.

Cheers! Thats good news then, ordered Project Gotham Racing 2 from amazon last week
However, if it looks likely I'll be going over to the ring at some point, looks like the DVD would be a worthy investment. Especially given the good references I've seen on here!
Will no doubt be ordering my copy soon

I also got this for Chrimbo and have watched it countless times since. My gf's father and brothers (all petrolheads) were suitably impressed with John's driving and got some idea about the Imprezas ability - which I've been banging on about to them for years.
For anyone considering a trip to the 'Ring, this DVD is an absolute must. In fact, I'd strongly recommend full stop.

Hi Barry, great to see you again, thanks.
That was a brilliant trip wasnt it. Driving Nurburgring and then Spa GP on the same weekend is a great combination if you get the chance, both circuits are fantastic driving challenges. It was fun sharing the track at Spa with the touring cars testing for the race series over there, the run through Raidillon/Eau Rouge is amazing, TV never does it justice.

So Smelly Felly has finally put his driving ability to a profitable cause??? About time too!!!
I watched 'Cossiekiller at The Ring' for the first time in years last week, really brought back some good memories. I even dug out my old master tapes from my last few trips, I so wish I'd got round to doing the sequel. The clip with Mike Rainbird swearing in the back of CK1 as it takes off over Pflanzgarten 2 is just hilarious!!
May well have to get a copy of John's dvd to quench my thirst!
I can still feel The Ring calling me.............
S.
PS Apologies to anyone who has no idea who or what CK1 and Cossiekiller are.
PPS The ultimate version of 'The Ring' in a game will be available in April when Forza Motorsport is released on Xbox.

Hi Stef, those early trips with the scoobynet gang were massive fun, as much for the off track exploits as on track, the night we were modifying Mike's cossie in the snow was one of the best laughs there. Hope to see you out there again soon, you know you want to.
A link to my DVD is earlier in the thread Ray. Or you can pop into Jap Innovations and pick one up there. If you mean the teach me bit, send me a PM.
Thats great Michael, you've been outbid now so best get back in there.
