I'm trying my best to find a suitable venue where we can use a quarter mile strip. I have located a Company that can supply the timing gear - but the problem is still finding a venue that is happy for a load of noisy scoobies tearing along their strip of tarmac. I'll be speaking to Santa Pod and am already speaking to Millbrook.

Anyone got a large back garden with a straight concrete road on it?? Must be over 1/4 mile in length.

Please keep on posting your interest and any ideas for what you would like to see/ do on this day.

To keep you up to date - I'm hoping to hold this meet the 1st weekend in July as it won't clash with any other events that I'm aware of.

There is a delay in securing a suitable venue as I'm still trying to find a venue that will allow us to hold a 1/4 mile sprint or something similar - getting opposition everywhere at the moment regarding this idea.

However we are are 5 months away as yet - so please keep an eye on this thread for further updates.

Another suggestion Terry. What about the old airfield at Wroughton near Swindon??
Easy to get to as near to M4.

I went to a VW National day there a few yrs back. They had plenty of room, trade stands in some of the hangars there, a 1/4 mile strip set up, and the Air Museum was open to visitors all included in the entry fee. Was a good day out, and the museum side of it will appeal to families etc... Hangars will help if bad weather aswell.

Worth a try??

I'll try this one. I'm also looking onto North Weald Airfield which has the facility to use a 1/4 mile drag strip or a sprint circuit (1 at a time timed laps). So will know more from them after 8th Feb as I have to complete and info pack. But I can't afford to put all my eggs into 1 basket so will try the Airfield at Wroughton.
