Thanks for the mixed responses.
Still looking into various venues - I must admit I did get a bit excited about the Heritage place as they have a good set-up and can accomodate this sort of thing very easily. However, as I said it is further North than I ideally wanted.
As for Beaulieu and Ardingly - I don't want this on the South Coast - It's a Southern meet - to cater for the Southern half of England (not just Hampshire and Sussex) - so should be quite centrally located within the Southern half - which to me is around Reading/ Oxford. Reading/ Newbury area would be great as it's off the M4/ A34 - so easy access from all around.
I'll keep on looking

I think that perhaps a venue should have been sorted before it was posted on SN rather than having 100+ interested people with no venue.Sounds like a bit of a hash to me but fair play for the effort.I'll watch this post with interest

I travel from Essex to Warwickshire to get my car serviced and worked on by CrossRoads so I have no problems with the mileage.
You're never going to please everyone at the end of the day. Last year loads and loads of Southern bods travelled serious miles to attend the NBO ... it will come to a point where you just need to bite the bullet and book something. You're going to have well over a hundred cars in any case so it will be a raving success.

Good to hear Phil
More here if needed!
I think the response so far has been mad!! 120 people interested in 16 days!!!
Darren,
I take it you didn't re-read the first post then?
Terry posted up asking for suggestions on the venue as well as asking who was interested
Seeing as Terry is 'probably' not an expert on the sites and venues of the South, he asked if anyone knew of a venue that might be more suited to the ones he had already thought of
These things take time to organise and that is why it's started now. 7/8 months in advance.

Ford Fair used Blenheim Palace & some other statley home just up the road at Charlbury (can't remember what it's called).
Both had plenty of room for show vehicles, public parking and catering.
What about Brooklands ????? http://www.brooklands.org.uk/reunion/reunion2k3/map.htm

One of the priorities must be cost. Some of these venues would cost an arm and a leg to hire, along with the insurance, medical facilities, karsies etc. The logistics of organising such an event can be frightening!
Should be getting close to a short list soon?

Im sure the Northerners wont be frightened of theses electric lights
(PS what are they ? )
I will be in contact with Terry soon to give my experience and support as when i had the <vision> of the NBO 3 years ago i had a venue but hoped i might get 50 scoobys :
The rest is history ,
and dont worry about distance to travel part of the fun in it is the various groups arranging the convoys from all over the country to the chosen venue.
im still waiting on the classic comments
Its too far to travel !!!
it will cost a fortune in petrol !!!
I will have to get up early !!!
can we not have it nearer to where I /We live !!!!!
Keep up the good work terry 120 in 16 days is an even quicker response than the NBO

Thanks Guys for your support.
Just had a quick 600 mile round trip back to my parents in sunny old Accrington and then back to Portsmouth 24h later.
At the end of the day this event should hopefully meet the expectations of the Scooby community - hence the reason why I have started the thread to generate interest and ideas.
I'd hope to get it right first time - and unfortunately as has been pointed out already, that takes a lot of time and planning and gathering information.
Do not worry - this will be an awesome event and it will happen - I make that commitment to you all.
Cheers
Terry
