Just got my result through from the court/speeding thing

£200 fine
£50 costs
5 Points

could've been worse I suppose, but wont know if it'll affect insurance until I get the offence code when my license comes back

5 points The fine seems reasonable though Offence should be an SP50 I think, so why not get a new online quote and enter that just to see

Any WYIOC classic owners possibly help THIS GUY

Phil, doesn't the offence code depend upon where you were copped at speed? Mine was SP30 for doing 70 in a 40 on an "urban" road, AFAIK it's SP50 for dual carriageways and SP70 for motorways but this is open to correction

I think the major problem would have been if you had been banned I guess this is where Sticky will find "uncooperation" later

CB - I guess SS is the nearest that I know of but I don't know how old his scoob is / whether he can / will help, whether it's standard or tweaked etc?

just found this on google

codes are correct at 2003

SP10 Exceeding goods vehicle speed limit
SP20 Exceeding speed limit for type of vehicle (excluding goods or passenger vehicles)
SP30 Exceeding statutory speed limit on public road
SP40 Exceeding passenger vehicle speed limit
SP50 Exceeding motorway speed limit
SP60 Undefined speed limit offence.

Exceeding the limit by between 5 and 14mph 3 points
Exceeding the limit by between 15 and 19mph 4 points
Exceeding the limit by between 20 and 24mph 5 points
Exceeding the limit by between 25 and 29mph 6 points
Exceeding the limit by 30mph or more Banned

considering I was supposedly doing 90+ in a 60 zone (single carridgeway) , I think I got off pretty lucky

Phil

Looks like you got away slightly better

Mine was 6pts, 150 fine & 30 costs but it was approx 5 years ago...

I think I got the full whack points as I managed to get out of a 7 day ban by needing the car for work (which was 80 mile round trip then) and also providing the site internal mail carriage duties which I could prove by having business class on my insurance

Phil - this seems "reasonable" for the alleged ofence. If I can be forgiven for using the word 'reasonable' in the context of a money making scam.....

Phil, still unlucky m8 in the circumstances you originally described. FWIW, I got a SP60 nearly 4 years ago (84 in a 60 - 3pts & £60 fine) and the 'Undefined' bit has been a real pain since with the more mainstream ins co's looking on it as a hanging offence!
Hope you fare better & at least get a definition of your evil wicked deed

So, does this mean we can all exceed the posted speed limit by up to 5 mph...??

You only ever exceed the limit by 5mph for a fraction of a second as you're on your way to 140+

got my license back toda & the ******* have put an SP60 on it (insurance hanging offence)

I've spoke to the courts today telling them that it should be SP30 , I've got to phone them back in the morning to speak to a clerk

it seems that whoever endorses the licenses dosnt bother looking up what the offence was, they just see "speeding" and stick on an SP60

barstewards, gonna have a rant in the morning

( after I've spoke to the clerk poliely and he's agreed that I should have an SP30)

BTW Have a look at my new site before the webby deletes the link

Phil

cheeky *******

just spoke to the courts about the SP60 endorsement and the clerk said that the police said there was a temp speed limit on that road

the a64 is 60 mph on that stretch ,and has been for years , there was no temp limit in force, no roadworks etc.

looks like I've now got to phone the police & try to get them to admit they made a mistake.

hmm whats the chances of that

complete tossers

Phil

Madgrip,
I dont want to put a downer on things but i hope you have better luck than me. I was in a similar situation about 9 years ago, I had to send in an official complaint and then wait 6 months for them to get off their ****'s and check into it by which time they havn't got a f*cking clue about your case and basically tell you to go get f**cked.

Can you tell im still slightly annoyed about the issue?

By the way, got some news on me car. Can't believe the repair cost without wheels is £3500 basically he said that everything inside the drivers side front and rear wheel arches, all arms struts, bars and bearings are shafted.
Didn't look that bad to me? Then the wheels i had are no longer available in the matt racing grey so a new full set of OZ's are in order with tyres at £1600.

Needless to say i will defo be in the super festa coutesy car for the next meet.

Mick

By the way, Ive just been checking out your car advert on the new website when i spotted.

Quote " A few of the guys on here are familiar with the car, and can vouch for both it and myself (I hope ) as being straight."

Mmmmmmmm. Im sure we can get some milage out of that one!
