Cool

Well folks,

I have a new wrx sl 05 (1567 miles and first service complete) and I think its got a gas tank the shape of an ice cream cone. I get 185 - 205 on half and then no matter how slow I drive can't get more than 280 before the light comes on for the other half.

Not that care performance always comes at a price and would not have bought the scoob if good MPG was my main aim.
Oh and I use Optimax I am thinking this is down to the fact that its still running in but I will bow to the knowledge that you folks have on this matter. Never owned a scoob before so don't feel I am in a position to make to much noise.. Well not yet anyway.

With my MY04 i'm trying an experiment on this tankfull ! Still loaded up with Optimax. Always cruise at 80 mph on the motorway, But on this tankfull will be 70 mph, So far the differance is shocking ! 100 mile journey and just reached the first mark on the gauge ie. 3/4 mark, You can tell it's not on boost when driving as there is no pssh sound as you touch the gas. At 80 mph runs at 3100 RPM at 70mph 2600 RPM.

Usually get around the 285 - 300 on a tank so this will be interesting as i only saved around 10 minutes in total for the journey. Only engine mod is a Ninja Exhaust.

That is shocking chap - my MY05 WRX SL was giving me 320 to a tank when running in, and about the same afterwards - actually, dropped to about 300 a tank - nothing majorly different in driving other than using the rev range a wee bit more. Then PPP went on, and I'm just about getting 250 to a tankful. PPP has it's good points but fuel economy is not one of them...

Mightyyid,

Thats a very good return on a tank. Mind you I think the half ton ICE install in mine may have something to do with it. I read some where that Aircon and custom ICE installs can drink as much as 7% of a tank when in use. This may account for my drop in MPG.

Would mind knowing if any one else with a custom install has seen a marked drop in MPG.

ive been reliably informed that the megane uses a TD04 just like the impreza.....nothing abut a twin scroll, but it only runs at about 0.5bar, so it woul duse less fuel too, but 35mpg? i doubt it.....only if you drove it like a pansy all day.
