arron... plenty of cars at similar spec been running for over a year using 6k service schedules that I know of.. and no problems so far

although Im beginning to think my gearbox is living on borrowed time

Yep, mines one..
My gearbox lasted all of oooh 3 weeks.
but engine has been faultless.
Must be the way I put it together.
Naa, it was all down to Bob Rawle to get the best out of it.
been a while since my project thread went **** up

No Dump valve Alan..
It's the compressor stalling against the back flow of air.
A lot of people are finding it to be quicker through the gears without one.

Compressor wheel not fell off yet.

its running on the happy side of 300 doing 120miles a day
total mileage = 105,000 and rising

admittedly I get fuel card from work and only pay about £50 pcm tax to include private mileage.
with well chosen mods and a realistic budget 300 is possible out of a classic, the ptw ratio is a little bit friendlier as well

105k and rising i got upset when mine went over 30k this year

Mine's been in a similar spec too for about 10k now, with original uk 5spd and the clutch is only just giving up now (50K on the car, still the original clutch).

this car's been round knockhill and up the 1/4 mile a few times too, so don't beleve all you read about them being unreliable.

Alan, from what I hear it's not good to run an 05/06 with front mount and no d/v. Something about bad reversion pulses as far as I remember.... this isn't from personal experence though, top mount should be ok though... Mine has been

Thanks for the nice comments guys. My father has had a stroke and during last year my mother was seriously ill in hospital at Little France so cars and S/Net etc are about the last thing I have time or inclination for.
Thanks.
