This morning I had a play with...

Been trawling the net a little and found a few figures for the following cars on a quarter drag strip which should be of some interest.
Quarter mile times approx:-
Merc AMG 476bhp = 13 secs maybe slightly less
Merc AMG 354bhp = 14 - 14.5 secs
Evo 7 FQ300 = 13 secs
S2000 = 14.4 secs
Type R = 15 secs maybe into the high 14's (driven well)
Hardly a million miles away when comparing the lower brake AMG with the type R now is it guys? less than a second I believe it is even closer on a backroad somewhere punching it mid gear due to the weights involved.

Scrappy:
The 476 BHP version does the 1/4 in about 12.4.
Cant find figures for the 354 bhp, but it hits 100 in 13.
A couple of seconds is an eternity in the 1/4s at this level.

I was less than a second behind an R1 at Crail on several goes. Doesn't mean I would pass one on a straight, smooth road. A second is indeed a good distance when you are travelling at 100-130 mph as you cross the quarter line!

New shape E55 does 0-100 in 10.2 sec, old shape does it in 13 sec, C32 does it in 10.8 sec.

Santa Pod hosted the Japfeast earlier this year where a Merc AMG and an Ariel Atom gatecrashed the party. The AMG 1/4 mile'd in 11.8 secs!!! Ariel Atom did it in 12.4 secs before breaking its drive shaft!

This thread is completely unproductive.
Scrappydoo, why is it everytime someone provides real facts that show your Type-R performance claims have the credibility of used toilet tissue do you need to bring up unlikely situations that go to the Type-R's favour, but in fact work for BOTH cars?
Please don't even answer that.

I had a bit of a play with some sort of AMG the other day. I had passed it on a dual carriage way when he pulled out behind me. We both had to over take a big artic lorry going up a hill. I'm sure he expected to fly past me at the earliest opportunity but I am pleased to report I left him for dead.
Not bad for an RB5 although in his defence how was he to know that I had 399 bhp and 382 ft/lbs available

I'm not on scrappy's bandwagon, but I just find it abit funny when you compare cars that belong in totally different leagues to each other. I like the STI and I don't doubt its performance but it costs £10k more, with an extra 65bhp on top of the Civic, its hardly a fair comparision is it?
How about comparing a standard Civic to a similarly powered WRX? Or a Jackson Racing Supercharged Civic against an STI? Now that would be a better comparision.

The CTR can beat an AMG as it is more aerodynamic (the van like shape scares the **** outta of air it pushes against) hence less drag. Also the CTR is lighter as it uses cheaper plastics plus the driver is more streamlined due to the burberry cap.

lol haven't you seen the amount of chavs in imprezas LMAO!!!1
They say the STI is the rich chav's chariot of choice if you didn't know.
I reckon they can cost from £3000 up - their almost as bad as Corsa's if you wanna play that way

Hey hey now,
I dont remember saying that Chavs dont drive Subaru's...stop making your own assumptions
I used to own a Honda Prelude 2.2Vti which was a proper sports coupe not some crappy tin plastic breadvan with no steering feel. (althought it does have a lovely gearbox and engine - what a waste)

I have had 4 laps against a new style WRX at Knockhill - there was nothing in it and if anything I was pulling away after cornering at higher speeds. Somebody told me afterwards that it had the PP pack so either that was bum info ( more likely) or the guy couldn't drive chickens out of a midden with a stick . Grovit of SN ( see pg. 5 of this thread), now a Scooby owner was my passenger at the time so can vouch for my story.
On another matter, the CTR's brakes are awesome !! I have spoken to a lot of WRX & Sti owners who complain that there brakes go to rat-**** after 5 plus circuit laps. The CTR's are solid after a good few laps with bugger all fade. I recall the CTR being put against a 911 on a braking test and marginally outbreaking it. I tried to find info on it on Google but it was an old episode. In know the thread orginally about straight line speed on the Queens highway but what hey. I don't tell lies or slate anyone in the process so I'm entitled to my opinions.
Cheers
Cal
Pelters disclaimer :- I don't claim the CTR is faster than an STi or an AMG
#210
The Standard Brakes on the CTR are very impressive. I remember toying with a CTR in my Lude and that damn breadvan kept overbraking me in the corners, a few corners later my standard crappy brakes were fading away while this chum kept on braking late.
