Been reading this for a while and had to add my piece after seeing the flamer pics
Dun nununununu Dun nununununa Batman...Chavtastic mate
Can't see the point of them, also thought that they dumped add fuel in the exhaust to produce the flame

The trick is to blip the throttle when the flame appears. This spits it backwards and makes it look more natural.

pmsl,
this is a 0/10 thread. see me!
flamer kits are just terrible.
not enough that you drive a rally car copy that has enough attitude on its own.
you feel the need to draw more attention to it by artificially inferring that it is over fuelling over run/lift off just like its older brother (the wrc car)
if your unfortunate enough to have flames occuring naturally then I feel for you, I really do, but to artifially induce them at will? pure class
one more thing, a point of physics, if your wasting heat, noise, spark and unburnt fuel on a flame session, your not utilising the cars full power potential for your particular state of tune.
you cant magic up any free extra energy, therefore your wasting it.

Oh, and m3matt, surely this is as bad as flamer kits, because you are trying to make a fake rally car

Apparently I have had flames after some downshift lift off action.. (ask IanW)
altho by no means was it intentional. and no, Pat didnt map it that way either.
Only happens when ambient temp is very low, and Im booting it
got flashed by a Mercedes sprinter once for nailing it to overtake (think he got a faceful of flames?)
again not deliberate- it just happens.
/shrug

To answer the original question, here is what you need to do.
1) Drill a 12mm hole in your tailpipe and a 6mm hole in the exhaust 50cm forwards of the first hole.
2) Purchase some new fuel hose with a 6mm external diameter and attach a nozzle from a windscreen washer jet. Use of a blue LED washer jet is preferred but not essential.
3) Slide 50cm of it into the 6mm hole lining the nozzle up roughly with the second hole. An endoscope may be used to obtain a more precise alignment, these can be obtained from most good online pharmacies
4) Seal around this hole with Holts FireGum (the firegum gives a better flame). If this is unavailable them Epoxy Resin or EvoStick may be used although the latter is only intended for use on Mitsubishi exhaust systems and may invalidate your warranty if applied to a Subaru.
5) Screw a spark plug into the 12mm hole and seal in the same manner as step 4.
6) Obtain an old fuel pump from a DMC10 or similar car in your local scrapyard. and attach the output end of this to new exhaust hose.
7) Warning: Use of safety goggles is recommended for this step. Using a masonry bit, drill a 6mm hole into the bottom of your fuel tank. You may need to set the drill to hammer mode as this tank is quite tough.
8) Insert another 6mm section of hose through with your new hole and seal with EvoStick or a similar adhesive such as PrittStick. Connect the other end to your new fuelpump.
9) Obtain a neon light transformer, these are easilly obtainable from any motor factors that deal with older Vauxhalls, and a push button switch, Connect the transformer to the spark plug.
10) Run a wire from the + terminal of your alternator to the push button switch which can be mounted in your dashboard and then connect to both the transformer and the new fuel pump, preferably in parallel
11) Park as far away from my car as possible as I have just washed it. Good locations include near to a vauxhall Nova or outside an Israeli government building.
12) Now simply start your engine, rev to 7K RPM and press the button.
13) Post pics of the result on Scoobynet.
Please note that this kit may cause a slight increase in the amount of unburnt fuel in the exhaust system. If this causes an MOT failure then remove it before the MOT test, removal is simply the reversal of fitting.
Disclaimer: If you actually attempt these instructions you are a ******* moron, oh hang on a minute what were you trying to do again?
