Since I got my Bugeye, I have been a much more placid driver and never race anyone away from lights etc. like I used to do in my old Primera SRi - I have tried to analyse why this should be. It's a mixture of not wanting to damage car, trying to be a more responsible and safer driver and dare I say it, not always being totally sure of performance - and by that I'm not always confident that power delivery is progressive and consistent in Turbo Scoobs - there's definitely a knack in launching smoothly. I'm constantly surprised by pulling power (torque) of other vehicles, such as diesels and people carriers. It's not that I haven't overtaken someone in a flash - but maybe I'm more happy keeping a low profile and being a stealth driver rather than a 0-60 dash type.

I hear ya Craig. That's the downside to woning a Scooby. You did the right thing mate!! Don't rise to it, you've got nothing to prove. When I got my Scooby I calmed right down for that very reason! Well, that and I value my clean licence!!! :-)

Happens to me most mornings on the A24 north of Dorking.
I sit happily within the limits around the stations and then when the road speed rises I boot it up to the next limit.
As I leave cars behind me and settle down to the next bit of Johnny Vaughan on the Capital Breakfast Show..... the next thing I know is every f**ker that was behind me is screaming their BMW, Audi, Jag, Vauxhall and 'White Van' to get past me. I'm sure they've seen my acceleration as an invitation to 'come and have a go if you think your fast enough'.
There's some 50mph corners on the A24 north of Dorking that the Scoob can handle at a much higher speed, but when you're being overtaken on the corner by a mad van driver it does worry me
Let them go and have their fun I say.

I had a chuckle the other day when I pulled out quite hastily from a roundabout to prevent a BMW driver from cutting me up. The exit of the roundabout lead to a 30mph road. I adhered to the limit, next thing I know the BMW driver is screaming up the turn right only lane to pull alongside me in a desperate attempt to show that his car can keep up. Little did he know that I was in fourth with less than an inch of throttle travel used! :-)
