This is a subject that greatly annoys me, I think people should only be allowed to have kids if they can prove that they can support them and educate them. You need a licence for most things these days, why not kids??

I think people who want children, should be made to pay for their upbringing (no handouts) and education (why should I pay for it??). That way, only people who genuinely want children (and therefore have the childrens best interests at heart) would have them, rather than treating them like a meal ticket.

A bit harsh you may think, but perhaps it would make people think twice about having them for the wrong reasons??

I also think that they should make it illegal to have children before the age of 20!! (perhaps public stonings for the culprits - could have a national "stone a chav" day - how much fun would that be!!)

People "expect" the state to pay for their children. More selfish attitude.

Listen you f$cking pikeys, wear a condom.

When we are all old (40+) we'll need the next generation to come and clean our houses, mow our lawns and collect our garbage whilst we sit out back and sip some of that nice Hermitage which has only just matured....we can't stop the working class from breeding or we'd have to labour ourselves

other in about 6 after work and the eldest, well he's in London on guard duty for the queen, so pop down to buck house and ask him

Results of my poll so far sugest that people having more than 2 children is anti-social and measures should be taken to ease the amount of people doing so.

cant really answer the poll as it depends on circumstance.

i think you should be able to have as many kids as you want IF you can support each one of them on your own.

those that lose a spouse or something and have to stop work, thats fair enough, but thats not what this poll was about.

more about chavs having kids purely to get to the top of the caaaannnnnncil house list and grab as many benifits as possible.

i think all un-employment benifit should stop after 6 months and child support only for a first child.

britain is an ageing sociecty, if we cut the birth rate too much there wont be enough people working to support government pensions (which are already dire!)

I agvree with all however I still believe having more than 2 children is anti-social. Why have more than 2??? We are over populated as it is!!

It's time we ALL take responsibility for issues in this world.

imo

Where do you get the number "2" from?? Why not 3 or 1? Is it just an arbitary figure or is there some study you have seen that says that's the level we need to allow us to maintain the status quo??

1 - they're lonely.

2 - they're not lonely.

3 - is OTT.

As I said from the outset - it's an opinion and I welcome alternatives to my argument.

Being an only child certainly does not mean you are lonely nor does having a sibling mean you have welcome companionship either.

I think it would be better to figure out what the optimum population is for the UK and then see how many children need to be bourn to those of child baring age who want to have kids to support that rather than choosing an arbitary figure.

I'd like to see your evidence to support that we are over populated. I am happy to agree a proportion of the population is wasting perfectly good air that other people could use, but I am not sure that we are actually over populated as such, indeed the "need" for immigration (not assylum etc) to prop up our population actually suggests the opposite.

Having said all that, I wouldn't have an issue with introducing breeding licenses either

England is queue central. P!sses me off.

Licenses to stop parasites mating , breeding and producing offspring that don't have a chance.

I went to Sweden with work. A friend, Jorgen told me it takes him "exactly 23 mins to get to work". Has done for 7 years!!

One day it'll take me 45 mins, the next 2 hours. Queues everywhere, dirt sirt DIRT!!!!

P.S. Did I say dirt???

OK so you don't like queuing, but do you have any evidence (anecdotes are not evidence by the way) to support your suggestion that the country is actually overpopulated or is this just SWAG on your part??

So without any evidence, you would like to take steps to reduce the UK population, when in reality we may not have enough population to actually support the economy etc (hence why the government may be promoting immigration).

Can't beat a well thought out plan!!

Don't get me wrong Senior_AP, much of your sentiment I agree with, I'd just like to see the evidence to back it up, without it it's just hollow scare mongering.

Look at Europe. England is an angry place - mostly cos of over-population.

It's a rant but some things don't require evidence.
