Ignoring price, would you prefer 993 or 996 TT?
I had an Evo 5 way back and found it too harsh for everyday driving. I also have had a variety of 911s over the years and the 993TT is by miles the best.
It is my everyday car. Whether it is better than an Evo on B roads, I have no idea, but I will NOT drive quicker through blind corners in any car such that I cannot realistically slow/stop in an emergency. The 993TT piles on such speed (8.5secs to 100mph) that I would be travelling at ridiculous speeds to beat/lose to any similarly fast car, so I would just not do it.
I just use it for it's pulverising acceleration for overtaking. It is like video in fast forward at any speed!!!
I am "air cooled 911" fan, hence 993TT.

Thanks Dave. I completely agree re corners, good point well made. What about areas where you can see though? Do you think given similar acceleration potential in an Evo or sorted Scooby (mine is 0-100 8.7 wet) that the 993TT would control its body better or worse than the Japs? Does it give you any signals to back off for example because the body control suffers if you really push it where you can see or does it take the rip out of you and feels like you could go and do it again harder?

Exclamation WTF? why a TVR?

47k eh? I have read the last 4 pages with mixed emotions, as 47k is a bl00dy lot of money to spend on ANYTHING that depreciates like a car. If you're an evo fanatic or scooby fanatic and you actually have the means to pay 47k then you probably will, if its the highest evolution of the species.

As for TVR's, not a goddam chance, you hit anything at speed in those things and you're buried in a fkin donut box ffs

One of my bosses had a cerbera for a while until the road got wet and dark, then there was no road, just copious amounts of corn and virtually no panels left on the car.

Realistically guys if you have that sort of money to spend, I want your job, because £30/35k is about the limit I will spend on a car. If I was pushed away from imprezas, it would be towards an R34 GTR with a "little" modding.

Good last 4 pages though, nice 1

Back on topic, I'd personally love one. It's a nice little five seater soloon for the family with a bit of performance to boot...now you couldn't carry five in the TVR could ya aye?

Iv ordered one!! cant wait!,to those who are saying 405hp/355lbs is not a lot!well the car was originally going to be 500hp/400lbs with the same upgrades but CCC decided on the lower figures for warrenty reasons and have mapped the motec to that,so to get the 500hp/400lbs is basically a remap, having had a FQ330 and knowing how much better and quicker it was compared to my 02 STIPPP,this car will be something special! i mean 405hp out of any car is a great achievment, blimey just decat the thing and your up past 420!!,and knowing mitsi with decats and warrentys your ok....cant wait!

Well done nellie.

Whatever anyone says, it's going to be bloody awesome and I think everyone who has commented on this thread knows that too.

Gutmann, if you want one I would be quick, they are only doing 100 of them and there are plenty of people around with £50k these days so I would expect them to sell fast.

Just a point on cross country and driveability though, I do agree with EVO regarding the lower powered ones being as quick cross country. A little example is my my99 versus a STi type UK I had for a few months:

Both similar power, standard STi and PPP MY99 but across country I was forever waiting for the STi to come on boost, then it did so suddenly and I could not progress as well as with the low down torque of the MY99!!!

I'd rather wait until next year/early 2006 and buy a new M3 with the V8 engine, 400HP and some serious low down torque, easier to drive and a LOT more quality/durability. No idea on the price, but I expect it'll be a little bit more than the outgoing model - say around 45K? Plenty of space inside (it will be slightly larger than the current 3 series model)...

haha in one years time it will be worth 25K. Knowing my luck with mitsu, your warranty is worth bugger all as well....

But at the end of the day it's £47k for something that looks like a Vectra

lol, yeah you must have driven an m3 in the rain then?? currently 340bhp pretty much undriveable in any wet conditions with or without traction control

its like tvr, who wants to buy a car you can only take out in the dry and drive in a straight line? all round guess who wins hands down?

Their is 1 Nova, I have seen that would rip it a new Ring piece on 0-100 I do not know what the top end speed is. However I seen a Nova Run up the Pod on a 1/4 mile do 7.2seconds with a speed of 121 MPH
I may even have a pic of it going under the timing board with these results.

It had two 2.0 Turbo engines in it one in the Front and one in the Back.

But the misubishi is something super in its own class.

What the hell has a nova got to do with a quality evo???
Now is 47k for an evo that does 0-100 in 9.94 a good choice? I think so.
But how will this compare with driving a type 25? Probably identical times for the 100mph dash although the type 25 will have better drivability as power is available all of the time and all for 13k less, however the mitsi does have a uk dealer warranty.

Please, you cannot compare a *2.5 litre* custom built Impreza which is half Japanese and half American to a *2.0* UK spec Evo.

It would be close, but we all know the Evo would win

Why cant you compare it? the evo is built by the usual uk tuners as is the type 25 but the torque is available from nothing rather than having to strangle the car so should really be very easy to compare. Evo mag even says that "on the road, though, an FQ-340, provably even a 320, would be a much more effective point to point machine thanks to its much broader, more accesible spread of power.
Think it would be a very good test

Red face

Have read the thread and agree that it would be interesting to see a lap time of an FQ400 to a Type 25

Would still give my right b0llock for an FQ400 thou

More anally retentive Evo owners.

I think you lot should spend more time with your appearance and try to get some women rather than fantasizing about your power outputs.

more useless comments?

the type 25 will have more driveability as power is available all the time? so the fq only has power available some of the time?

350-400 bhp there is not gonna be much in it, yes it depends on the torque curve however the fq has got an m800 which has in gear boost control and many good features probably the best ecu out there, and its mapped by owens who are great with evos. Also if anyone has got a 400bhp car?? (ME ) and has tried overtaking a 300bhp car in a straight line, you will know what i mean, there is very little in it and 100bhp is not enough to leave another for dead

yeah i think an evo looks great.. i also like subarus, preferably a 2004 model jdm sti in white, however still dont think the performance compares in case your wondering, yes ive owned both jdm sti 2003, now got an e8 2004 about 400bhp. Much more modifiable and i have more fun in it, however still failing to see the comparison to a vectra, oh ive got it, they both have 4 wheels!! i see where you are coming from now
