I'll echo all the positive comments on here frank, you know my views on organising events for the scooby community, you can't please all the people all the time!
No need for you to apologise to anyone either, you did all you could to plan the meet, and nothing would've got all 108 scoobys through the lights together. Maybe next years event should have a proper itinery, with a meet time, and set off time, and a regroup time, then a final time to leave the car park time. That way, everyone will know what is expected of them, and there'll be no-one left out in the cold.
Dont you dare back out of organising next years event either, you've got this one for a few years yet m8.
Look at poor lordharding, thought it would be a good idea to have a few scoobys meet in a field in yorkshire one night in the pub, and over 500+ turned up this year for the NBO! Imagine the response we'd get with that many scoobys through the lights!
Get your plans in early for the bbo3 frank, your the man to organise it m8. See you soon.
chris.

Three cheers for Frank!

Hi.
I am from the Darlington in the North East, I didnt get home till about 1.00am, but Had a great night and so did my kids. Second year ive been.
I expected the time along the prom, I came along for the buzz, part of being something that most dont get to experience. Even my kids have been part of something that 99% of their school friends have never experienced.
My kids didnt look at the lights much, its watching peoples faces and trying to count all the cars that they enjoy.
Just my 2 pennies worth.
Cheers frank for a top night.
Ill be their on the next one.
I didnt think owning a Scooby was about worrying about wasting £5 on fuel.
Maybe ill buy a Micra for next year??????????

I was back at McD's for 1030 - but only cos I turned around 1/2 a mile along the GM as we had a long drive back home ahead of us.
Me & my wife (the 'lady' who posted on the SIDC who seems to have upset Julian) were more upset that our little lad didn't get to be in a big line of Scoobs, or see the lights. Sadly cos we came from so far away we came solo, so the day for us WAS the meet at Halfords and then a procession up & down the promenade.
Those who had a good day - we're glad you did and I reckon the fairest thing is to say that a big event became a huge event - but lets make it bigger next year, hopefully we'll all know what to expect (I will) and to have sorted ourselves a 'rat run' to the Prom if we need it
cw42 - some good points fella... a Plan 'B' route to the lights could have been (& no doubt will be next year) a big help...when they were all U turning, I just thought they were all even more impatient than me
And as I've said in my other post, the main thing - we did well for charity

It was well worth it
This was my 1st Scooby run. Although people have moaned about the traffic etc. , to be honest the situation made things more exciting for my family. The game became.....lets find another Scooby....Theres another one...etc. I think that it livened things up no end, I was involved in the turnaround at the traffic lights before the roundabout, we had applause from the crowd and other cars didn't seem to mind a convoy of U-turn Scoobies making them wait..it must have been exciting for them to watch and listen to the superb noises from our cars.
LETS FACE IT....WE OUTSHONE THE LIGHTS...WE WERE THE MAIN ATTRACTION ON THAT NIGHT.
Don't give up Frank ...'Your Scoobies Need You'

2. Midnight? Lucky you - it was after 130am when we got home (Newcastle upon Tyne)
3. If you consider my having a point of view as complaining - well theres no answer to that one but I suggest you actually bother to read ALL MY POSTS ABOUT IT when I try to make it perfectly clear that the only downer on the night for me was the traffic causing all the cars to split up and a lot of us didn't know where to go
4. I've also said I intend being at the next one (in disguise if Sonic doesn't mind )

Frqank has done a great job in organsing the BBO and
He now has to organise the Blackpool end of lights run -next month
He is organsing the BBO 2005 next year
He is joining the NBO 3 committee as the Blackpool co-ordinator !!!
he is coming on the Raid Across the Border 3 !!!
A lot of work goes into the planning of these events but it is all worth it when you have an empty car park/field and then within a few minutes a few then a dozen and then hundeds of scoobys meet with the distinct beat of the
Flat Four
and you get a buzz of the charity collection as well !!!
Well Done Frank :

If there is another one (PLEASE FRANK!!!) we should make it clear litter won't be tolerated. Mac Sh*t wrapper on floor = CHAV!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall I enjoyed it more than the NBO2. And thats saying something!

Ive spoke to the organisers of the 'give a child a chance' appeal, and needless to say they are overwhelmed by our donation (£550.31 and £600 to come from the company i work for).... Their next question was 'would we be doing it again..????
As organiser of the BBO, the most annoying thing to read was 'that there was a lack of organisation' .... when you have put probably in the region of 40 hours into something...then as anybody else would feel 'it was a bit of a blow'. It was also particularly annoying as initially the police didnt want the event to go ahead, and it took several phone calls to convince them that his event would be 'organised'.
And whilst i, am happy to criticise the boys in blue for things they fail to do, on this occasion, they didnt fail, they were waiting for us, and they had put extra officers on duty, unfortunately it is 'we' that couldnt get to them ...that is a circumstance well beyond my and their control.......on that night, the stretch of road we were heading for, was probably the busiest road in the country.
For me, it was also bitterly dissapointing to read that some people who had travelled so far, didnt get to see the lights, or had to turn round ..........
and one of my primary reasons for not doing wanting to do it again.
Looking back, alot of positives came from this event, most notably that for all the hours spent on the road by our attendees, there was not one reported incident of trouble.....
For those who were able to get to/thru the lights, the impression made on the public was more impressive than the lights themselves....even if we were in smaller groups than hoped for.....on the night, traffic volume was up by 50%.
Finally, dispite any hiccups, we were lucky enough to be able to attend ....for some of the children our donations will go towards helping, they might only dream of 'seeing' a scoob, let alone sitting being stuck in one for 3 hours... and so its for them, i have decided to put my feelings aside, and look forward to >>>

sorry, i cant do a BBO 2.5 ................. on the final weekend of this years lights, as i'm doing firework displays 5th, 6th and 7th of Nov.
Thanks for all your support, with BBO 2

Well said Frank! Put me down for BBO '05, I'm sticking it in my diary ahead of time so I don't get double booked.
Are you doing the Runcorn fireworks again? You'll have to work hard to top last year!

That's the Spirit Frank
Frank, I personally don't know you, have only ever spoken to you to give you my donation, but I want you to know that for each person that knocked the event there were dozens who were thrilled at being there. This is purely down to your negotiating skills and determination to make it succeed. If the moaners want to help you make BBO3 better then let them volunteer to help.....You know they won't.
Traffic is beyond your personal control and I for one would like to say 'thank you' for giving us a great night out.
As I have said in another thread :-
WE OUTSHONE THE LIGHTS, WE WERE THE MAIN ATTRACTION ON THE NIGHT.
There must have been hundreds of people talking about Scoobies after that night, both participants and spectators.
Well done Frank, glad you have agreed to do it again. Your Scoobies need you.

Frank, good on you.
I've got 1 think I'll PM you over.
But here are some suggestions for next year I'd like peoples views on now we have a year till the next 1.
Maybe the kids could join us for the meet up in the car park for next years??
And shall we say the second weekend in October again as the date. Its in my planner already!!!
