So despite all the information given which appears to be APS or Lateral FMIC your still doing your own thing....... lol

 

I have a Greddy fitted, easy instal and a good fit. Does a very good job and cost £550.

 

That Lateral FMIC looks very close to the engine. Thought one of the ideas of the front mount was to move the IC away from heat sources.

 

That's the rad.

To get the best flow through an intercooler as possible to ensure effective charge cooling you need to ensure that there's no 'bounce back', ie the air travels in one direction only. Ideally you want the intercooler in free space, so the air goes through it and nothing else (look at the current WRC set up) if you can't do this then you want to couple the intercooler and radiator as close together as possible, and ideally ensure there are are no gaps for the air to escape out the sides, with them close coupled the air should only make one pass through the intercooler, the rad, then into the engine bay and out.

With the Lateral kit the rad and the intercooler are close coupled and have been designed around this principle.

If you have a kit where the intercooler is stepped away from the rad you can improove the efficiency of both by ducting between them (sheilding the sides)

BTW Conrad, the point Sam made on the first page was that he's been given a choice of 4 japanese sourced intercooler kits on the cheap, so he can't consider the aussie/brit combos Anyway I still prefer the HKS to the APS, I really don't like those silicon pipes

 

I would go HKS in your position.

I am not keen on the silicon pipes either. Can you imagine how much energy is stored in their expansion at 2 bar?

Then when you lift off, you need two dump valves to cope. If you have no dump valve like me, the load on the turbo is masisve! No thanks.

HKS. My HKS on the engine dyno still managed to get mine to 550+ bhp.

I have found the HKS core a bit soft so a grill is advisable and that detracts from the efficiency.
The APS is rugged and performs well and in 30k mls I had one problem with the silicone pipes and that was down to a fitting error.
The Greddy is cheap but it is not bar and plate.
If the Lateral is supplied without pipework that is a major consideration and I am aware of fitting problems with clearance to the pulleys but that may be due to that particular installation.
Hybrid. I am biased but it represents great value for money at well under £600 delivered.
