2 petrol stations I know do higher octane fuels. Reason for doing this, is last time I was in Blackpool the BP station by the airport didn't do ultimate.

An easier garage to get to is just off the M55.As you come into Blackpool on the M55 the Shell garage is about 500 meters from the junction.I will get road names and post it later so no one will run short.

 

For those with 'less finickerty scoobs' Tesco just off the M55 junction is nearly always the cheapest place for fewel

Having spoken with Blackpool Police, and the Blackpool Tourism, and the land owner (Halfords),

it was decided that a meet point on the prom, whilst may look spectacular, would have hidden problems, in terms of vehicle security, traffic, and lack of facilities ....as the nearest promside venue, would be at the very North End of lights..

I/ We have decided that it makes more sense to go with Option 1, which is confirmed as ...

Halfords, Blackpool Business park, Nr Blackpool Airport - Squires gate Road, Blackpool.

This venue has the added benefit, of McDonalds, to cater for food and toiletry requirements, and room for expansion if the numbers increase.

The meet time is 6-6.30 (after trading hours), to depart approx 7.30pm, heading to join the south to North queue.

Halfords cease trading at 6pm,and have requested that if you do arrive early, please be considerate to any other vehicles at the premises.

I envisage a meet point at M6 Northbound 'Charnock Richard services' at approx 4.45pm for 5.15pm depart.

The Police have said that they will try to get us into the lights queue in 1 group , if not, 2/3 smaller groups...this is traffic dependant. They will be expecting us at 7.30pm to join the queue.

The 'BBO' has a lot of future potential hanging on this event, for it to become an annual event. The guy from Blackpool Tourism has expressed an interest to come and have a look at the cars (he's a bit of an enthusiast)

Also, remembering the charity part of this, if we could all make a donation ..... there is potential to make £500+. It may even be possible to invite the charity to the meet point. (there are a number of possibilities - a local childrens charity would be the preferred option - being looked into)

I will be creating a new post, once i get all details together, and a 'proposed' route (which looks like a south to North, then full regroup, and return as a full group, back to Halfords via the lights) travelling time can vary due to traffic an so expect approx 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the full round trip ...but for now

Its easy, just follow the signs for the airport, then just before it turn left just before morrisons. I'm sure Frank will post directions on the new thread with all the details. Or alternativly follow every other scoob in the area

The road running from the End of the motorway M55 - to Blackpool Airport is Squires gate Road, Halfords is left, as you come from the motorway, and approx 1 .5 miles. Halfords on on the block before the airport.

can any body join in as im a scottish scooby
going to be down in the area on holiday and would love to be part of it

going to york on the sunday but adding an extra day so we can join in
just going to grab a b+b for the night

 

The SMACS are getting together if you want to meet in Manchester or you could meet us at Burtonwood Services which is on the M62 at Warrington.

Directions as easy as follow the M62 to Liverpool. Just after the Warrington junction you will see the services exit and an exit immediately after it. Take this "second exit" and come over the flyover at the top as if you were going back toward Manchester but filter left and come down into the Eastbound service area
