The quality of the paintwork does look good for IRA, but to coin one of his most used phases ' IT WILL BUFF OUT' honest.

***** News Update ******


This afternoon, Blackpool Police have given the all clear, but they have also given me a new contact who may be able to give us some 'serious' help with this ...if this comes off, the event could be massive.

I dont really want to say too much just yet in case it cant come off ...... the latest proposal, and it was a suggestion by the Police Officer i spoke too, it could give us the afternoon / evening event we had hoped for, if it doesnt come off, they are prepared to help, but they dont think they could escort us through as it will involve 4 - 6 police vehicles..........but, nevertheless the date is now cast in stone

BBO - 9th Oct 04 - Update ***

Unfortunately i cant put any specific times to this at the moment, as it depends on the outcome of option 2, but in terms of last year, i think the lights drive-thru should be around 7.30/ 8ish, and depending on traffic can take around an hour or so...
once i have full details i will post everything

option 1 - a meet starting at approx 6.30, an hour ?? for meet time and then leaving for the drive thru around 7.30/8 ish - this would be from the south end of the lights, driving to the north in readiness to drive thru from north to south

option 1a - same as option 1, but with the Police helping us to get in the queue at the south end, heading north thru the lights, with a return run through to head back to the regroup point

option 2 - is a meet point at the north end of the lights, but this awaits some further detail, and would give us the chance to have a meet time in the afternoon, ready for a north > south drive thru again around 7.30 / 8 pm ish and a different regroup venue at the end


At the moment,

option 1 has the green light (ok'd by the police)

option 1a, has the green light, minus the Police assistance which i have yet to confirm if this is a requirement

option 2 is in its infancy, as it was only put forward today, but this would be the best/preferrred option if it comes off.


other than putting the venue 's down, this is pretty much the information i have at present.... i do not want to mention the venue's of the second option at this stage incase the plan falls flat, but if it comes off, its impressive...

** New Update**

I have made contact with Blackpool Tourism, and they are going to see how they can help us...

The new and latest option, possibly will get us a venue on the 'prom' itself, with an afternoon meet time to miss traffic problems. If we do get a promenade meet point, we may have to provide some marshalling on the grounds of safety, and security.

Initially as expected, the link to 'cruise' was mentioned, but hopefully i have put us forward in a favourable light, and this is not an issue....Also the idea of this being linked to generating some monies for charity is a big plus for us.. differentiating us away from the cruise scene. The idea of this being aim'd at a family occasion is also very favorable for us.

Nevertheless, all i have spoke too, have given no objection to us meeting ...

For now, this is the latest news, the kind people at Blackpool Tourism and the Police are unavailable until monday now, so i will provide further updates as and when i get them.
