but either way none of thats going to get you a new IP form the router.

depending how its set up, ie. the address is a dhcp, a simple reboot would possibly get the machine a new address.. if u use a fixed address it doesnt matter wot u change u can use that fixed address again.
Yeah I know this, I was just wondering what the poster might be thinking of

So....

If you went into a restaurant and ordered a meal that you haven't tried before, (but has been recommended by a friend), would you then refuse to pay the bill if you didn't like it?

Or....

Would you refuse to pay your sky tv bill if they weren't showing any films you fancy watching on the film channels that month....

Or....

Refuse to pay for your cinema ticket if you don't like the film you're watching .

Whatever way you look at it, this is piracy which not only harms the software developers / companies / industry, but also forces up the prices of software for us honest people...

Not getting on a high-horse about this, but it surprises me just how many threads there are on this board which openly advocate software piracy.

Thanks again everyone. Since i had to reboot my modem and router i am now only getting between 1 kB/s and 12 kB/s mainly averageing about 5 now and not always getting green lights like before. I have not altered one thing! Was a little bit dissapointed before as i expected quicker downloads (but as some people have said 5 to 35 is not bad) but now 1 to 12, downloads are taking ages. Nevermind, if it does not improve (at least back to where it was) and if i feel i can manage to follow some of the advice given here i will try some suggestions. Thanks again

Just see how other things do... u cant base ur over all speed on any singular download as theres too much thats out of ur hands that effects ur speed.

I was downloading a file the other day, that went from 3k to 100k and back and floated around 50k... it can change that much in a few mins.. just based on wot the rest r spitting out.

If u think ur connection in general is slow, the best thing to do is try downlaoding a big file form say M$, or ATi etc... a place thats got oddles of bandwidth.
