It certainly does The prospect of being at Dover for 6am is daunting enough for me!

Need to be rested & awake to drive across Europe, especially if you don't have a co-driver.

Last time I looked they were doing twin rooms for £49 so if you two share it will be cheap enough There is a pub nearby we can have a beer and some food in on Monday night. We will probably get breakfast on the ferry (Continental only in Express).

It sure is. Sorry I was being silly.

I don't understand why the Ferry is so early, as the first stop in France is only going to be a short trip 230miles, unless I'm missing something, which is most probably true and quite normal for me

Talking Place to stay

My laydee, Sonja and I decided last night that it would be nice to put some of you long distance travellers up for the Monday night. We can take 3, 4 at a push. Two in the spare room and two in the lounge. We just moved in to this place so its all a bit messy and not settled yet (not likely to get any better either , but it’s a place to rest your head.

We live near Brentwood, so an hour to an hour & 15mintues from Dover. Would have to be up and gone by 4am that hurts just thinking about that, and its weeks away

So if any of you fancy it, just e-mail me. You are most welcome . We have ample drive space for 4 cars with a bit of devious parking

It would also be cool to get to meet some of you before the trip.

Up to you Chappers.

Will be leaving Reading, Berks at 03:00 on Friday morning if we have to be there an hour before. I suppose even if you stay at a travel in you will need to leave at 0400 ish.

Taking a full size spare wheel and tyre. Should anyone want to borrow another one if you have a 01-04 STI let me know.

That looks cool, always wanted to go to Reims but what happened to staying at Dole?

At least Seacat is later. I can feel a lay-in past the crack of dawn happening now

Those are from the 18th March email, but it does say 'Proposed Itinerary' and I notice the website one says Dole, so that is probably more up to date

I met with Nick Smith tonight and I believe that we will be leaving Dover at 7.45am.

So not as early as you may have thought.

We will all be receiving the finished, printed route book around the 20th Aug.

I have also been asked if we wish to reserve some tables at the Pistenklause which is in Nurburg and is about 5km from our hotel on the Saturday night. This wil be the last night that we are ALL together as a few are going home on the Sunday afternoon. Also this restaurant is owned by the family of Sabine Schmitz (of Top Gear/ Nurburgring fame) and she may even put in a guest appearance. Oh and the group from Eurohoon (www.pistonheads.com) will be there too - they have reserved tables.

What do you think? Might be a tad more expensive than the hotel we are staying at but at least we will have a good night.

Cheers

Terry

Oh and be sure to buy this month's CAR magazine as there is a feature about the best driving roads in Europe and they feature the Stelvio amongst others that we will be driving - sounds/ looks awesome.

Excellent, the Pistenklause does great food, and its not expensive £20, £25 a head depending on how much beer you drink, and as Sabine normally brings it to you, you can be sure to consume alot ohhh Sabine

Where are we staying when we are at the Ring?

Shes never not been there. Her husband does the cooking so he's always buried in the kitchen , so he can't see us flirting with Sabine

Nice pics there Andy - and if you think your car should look like the one on the right then a full rally slag is the way to go...

Cheers

I think that this pic gives the best perspective of any pic I have seen of the Stelvio Pass...
