hang on..... I'll go take a photo
Much better - I see what you're getting at.

A picture says more than a thousand words (as they, er, say).

Just waiting for mine to turn up to start messing about with them.

Cheers

I had noticed this 3rd little bracket on some other pics I have and was a little concerned. I have had some brackets made up from the templates, but the little L-shape one is not detailed ?

What does the bracket attach to in the wheel arch ?

does anybody know what other bits and pieces we will need to complete this, what size bolts and washers? and do they need to be self tappers? how many holes need to be drilled in the bodywork

Thanks

Just buy yourself a load of M10 bolts and washers (stainless steel preferably) and 4 self-tapping bolts - for the inner arches behind the front wheels (Those are the only ones that required drilling) The rest use existing trim-holes in the panels.

The last bracket is to stop the rear flaps flailing around, I reckon. My brackets are STi copies... they're not quite the same as the Ravensblade ones.

The rear bracket templates i sent did not have the 3rd little bracket, but there will be enough left over in the off cuts to make them.

The templates for the newage are the same as the ones fitted here.

T'wife phoned to say mine have turned up , but as at work not had chance to 'inspect' the package yet.

Anyone got any template (on a classic) for this extra or 2nd bracket for the rears as depicted at post #90 by BuRR?

Good news!!

Looking at the classic templates it looks like the bracket template incorperates this "3rd bracket". i.e. you have to bend it back on its self.

I didn't cut the a4 sheets, i just lined up the dotted lines and the outlines and selotaped them together. As i said before, i glued the bracket templates to the ali (although is noe being a bit of a pig to get off!), and the flap templates i just layed over the Kaylan and cut 1 flap out at a time.

I finished making mine last night, plus an extra 3rd bracket for the rear flaps from the off cut in the centre of the blank. Hopefully fitting tonight (as long as its not pi$$ing down). I'll get some pics up tonight if i get chance.

Templates were squeezed together as much as possible to maximise the number of flaps from each length of sheet and reduce price! Everything ok though??

Got mine mate, many thanks again for the quick turnaround Top job.

Got some brackets made up from the templates, just need to get some fixings and cut out the flap material now.

Can you confirm that if I use the templates exactly as in the Autocad file, I won't need any extra brackets ? Also grateful if someone could confirm exactly what fixings are required too, I'm a little unsure still of what is needed. For example, the fixings that go into the OEM holes in the arch, are they self tappers or do they need nuts behind

For Newage BTW . . . .

Use the templates exactly as in the the autocad file, the outside line on the template is the exact size of the kaylan blank.

Fixings wise (I think this is correct i will be fitting mine tonight so can confirm later) :-

Front flaps (per flap)- 3 x m6 bolts and nuts, 8 large washers, 2 self tapers (into inner wing)
Rear flaps (per flap) - 4 x m6 bolts and nuts, 8 large washers
Rear flap extra bracket (per flap) - 1 x m6 bolt and nut, 2 large washers

Total:-
M6 bolts/nuts = 16
Large washers = 36
Self taper = 4

Note:- I think that a large washer should be put on both the bolt head side and nut side of the fixings.

Just looked at the newage template layout, and (if you haven't already cut them out) i reckon that if you slightly rotate the rear brackets in the template you will be able to extend the bracket enough, so that the "3rd bracket" can be incorperated into the rear bracket itself, i.e. bend the bracket at 90 degrees where it touches the the rear inner wing, and bolt it to it. Damn, wish i had made up a dummy set of brackets before i cut mine

@rse, I've had my brackets CNC'd now So looks like I need to make up a couple of L-shape brackets to hold them onto the inner wing then.

Let us know how you get on with fitting mate, pics would be very handy

I went to do it last night but its going to take longer than i thought , it wa sgetting dark and was raining so i thought i'd leave until the weekend.

I had a PM from Corradoboy reagrding fitting
The rears are easiest. You'll need to pop off the under bumper trim to get access to the rear of the two holes in the rim of the wing, and utilise the inner plastic fitting for the 3rd mounting point. Once you have access from behind the arch it's just a case of bolting them on and refitting the under bumper trim.
The fronts are a bit harder, and require the part removal (3 clips back) of the sill protector, and part removal of the arch liner. Then it's grazed knuckle time getting the nuts onto the back of the bolts. If you're using the full width front flaps (some cut the inner bit off) you'll need to drill 2 holes into the inner wing, which means the wheel has to come off, unless you can borrow a mates "drill 'round corners" thingy like I did. For the middle mounting I just ran a self tapper into the ridge in the arch liner.

Jesus!! 2 hrs!! I'm an engineer, but you must have boss eyes . Its worth taking your time cutting and shaping the flaps though!

Mine are all made, plus the "3rd bracket" (although this isn't drlled yet as i want to get the rest of it on the car first to see exactly how to make it. Problem is its constanlt pi$$ing down here, i get soaked just unlocking the car, let alone rolling around under it for 2 hours!!

I'm definetly doing bracket/flap/car, can't see any advantages doing it the other way, it looks neater and the flap stands less chance of ripping as you are spreading the load.
