no codec

Can someone kindly point me in the right direction to get this codec thingy sorted. I only have media player and all i get is the ambient thingy on the screen!!

What version of media player do you have?

try the DivX codec: http://www.divx.com/divx/download/

If you don't have PowerDVD to play it in, see link to codecs on previous page. Get the M2V/SVCD one and the DivX one.
