MY99 Wagon (inc "mods" ) for a Volvo XC70 (which I get tomorrow )

Why? 75 mile each way commute on a daily basis, so fuel/running costs are very high. It was 5 years old/100k miles & commuting was just going to kill it probably I have a wife whose idea of a night away for the familly is 3 large suitcases, so always a squeeze into the boot of the wagon. I wanted something comfortable as I'll be spending a lot of time in it, diesel for the fuel aspect, AWD/4WD for the ocaisions that it gets tough to get through the roads around here but I didn't want to do the whole 4WD thing (Disco/Mitsu etc).

Insurance is cheaper too but I am getting old

The intention is to try and get a track car in 6 months time & use the XC to tow it around

Dave

This PM if you want - I know you're bored Just got to go & order a Mini for the wife - phone me.

PTMW! has been sold but is in very good hands & will be coming to a trackday near you soon - although I will not be driving (Unless I'm a very lucky person & fit the roll-cage in for them )

Seriously thinking of going from my P1 to a EVO VI Tommi Mak. Why?? Well it's just as exclusive if not more so, the engine's are bomb-proof and scoobies/ P1s tend to go bang whenever they feel like it. Plus it's just gotta be done hasn't it??

old boss used to have an EVO 6, started getting problems with rust after less than a year! might be a unique case. i'd still get one though, in black, mmmmmm!

ps. Get an Evo 6 extreme! ~360BHP IIRC and no traction control/abs/active yaw

0-60 in 4.4 secs.......

Hello Dave Things well my end. Have about 400 kids now though...pesky critters. And now I've done some research and very sad I've gone for the new 2.0T Audi engine with DSG....apparently 265 is the max torque it can take...ah well, it *is* the family car so no AMD for me.
Can't believe Imprezas are Chav-like though My driveway boasts quite a few mixed messages now then

I was VERY close to trading in my UK Impreza Turbo (MY99) for a new Mini Cooper S (it was ordered!) before seeing sense and going for a P1 instead for about the same money.

I've only had the P1 for a month and it's great. If i get rid of it it won't be for quite a while (warranty until Nov 2006 ) and then it'd be for a newer scoob or possibly an FQ330 when they've come down in price a bit.

Moved from a modded STI 5 Type R to a 2001 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 2.

No regrets at all. A truly great car.

Sold the MY01 WRX because it was slow.

Bought a 944 turbo (track slag), Clio Cup (GF's car & 'ring slag) and Astra SRi (commuter slag).

The only Impreza I would ever own is a 22b - A genuine special edition, rather than a different paint job special edition.

Chopped my Scoob and my dailer runner (Fiesta Zetec-S) in for a Honda S2000. Much MUCH cheaper to run, fun with roof down but of a handful in the wet tho

I'll be back with an impreza when i can

Got shot of my Scoob due to redundancy

Now scoot around in a MkIII MR-2. Huge power difference but the low speed fun in the MR-2 is immense

Pondering moving up to a Lotus Elise sometime in the future

I much prefer the nippy light cars now rather than the larger more powerful beasts. Only thing I miss about the Scoob is the exhaust note

Got a Lancia Evo due to I had always wanted one since I was a laddy, and they were winning the Championship year after year but the wife didn't want me to have one due to left hand drive and reliability so bought a Scooby. And it was very good but on a journey to work you would pass them like mondeo's and the amount of mothers that were driving them for school runs and the shopping? I just thought that if you own this kind of car you wanted to feel special unfortunately the Scooby didn't. Nice quick car though, just a victim of it's own popularity. Tony

No just a user name when the wife and I got on the Internet and started going on forums like this it was around the time Pierce Brosnan revised the roll in the films so it as all over the TV, so when I was trying to think off a screen name I shoved it in and its stuck probably be cool if it was my name but would probably be a pain after a while. Engine - maybe...

Gearbox - good for about 20000miles if your lucky

Seriously, these cars a re great fun, but its approx 2k for a gearbox rebuild that will let you down more often than a p1 engine

changed from a my97 scoob to a p1 cos it was quicker, handled better, changed that for a sti 7 prodrive ppp, dunno why, the car never grew on me, chopped that in for an evo 6 rsx, lightweight, no abs/ayc etc with 340 bhp, brilliant fun again!

a basic SMART CAR Pure.
why?
MY03 i wanted fell through.. needed wheels so bought the Smart car to tired me over.. but love it so much wouldn't want to get rid now.

Cheap everything!!!
petrol costs are the best tho... £20 of UL does almost 300miles.. the scoob was doing me only 120.

all i miss is the sound of the scoob and the put ya foot down when you need it performace!

need fast car again.. but can't justify the cost at the mo.. have things i need to do without soendinga shed load on running costs and insurance.

Hi Cman, nice to talk to you

Can't believe Imprezas are Chav-like though
Hey, nothing personal, you've got some "proper" ones It's the £3k imports driven by Burberry baseball capped 20 year olds i'm talking about

Swapped a Landrover Discovery for my Scoob, never looked back.

Mind the Scoob does handle a little better though, only draw back is: the shopping potential is greatley reduced................

I might buy another Subaru, but if so it will be a Forester STI import from Iain Litchfield

PS - Hi Chucky boy, how ya doing?
I know where your coming from Dave, i've just come back from drumming up work for www.neoquip.com down at the local BoyRacer car park meet at McyD's in Nottm.... Chav Style young lads all claiming 300+bhp with 'old' M plate etc WRX classics all over the place... even saw a MY03 being driven by a wanna be Evil Kannevil/Solberg.

If/when i come back to a Scoob.. it will have to be a scoob no one else knows anything about ie New shaped Type25/S202/Sti RA etc... not just run of the mill.... or a well tuned wolf in scooby/sheep clothing ;

My MY01 went for a JDM Forester S/tb. It's virtually invisible to the *******, carries more rubbish (mostly baby related) , cheaper to insure than a std UK impreza and almost all the mechanical mods bolt right up Even better once it had a daytrip to Swindon

Moved from a very loved modded STI Version 5 Type R to a 2001 911 Carrera 2.
A very different car , but amazing in everyway.
Unfortunately due to changes at work its now gonna have to go.........so anyone seriously considering a 996 Porsche look no further. This is the best you will find...........
