What have you swapped your soob for, and why??
After reading a few threads i was intersted to know why people swap thier scoobs for civic type'r, 182 etc.......
|
Porsche 996 C4, Scoob was too unreliable.
|
Pug 205 GTi
'cos I needed free some cash/minimise overheads to start my business... It's not in the same league as my modded MY99 scoob as far as straight line performance, but show it some twisties (or even a mini roundabout) and the grin is just the same!! |
Octavia vRS.
I needed a bigger car. Fancy another Scoob now though ;) Steve |
Holden
Fancied a change plus there are two other scoobs on my street. Everyone still asks what is it, plus its nice leaving two black stripes as my calling card wherever I go, also the V8 sounds as nice as any flat4. |
Sold my scoob to fund my flat purchase. About 2 weeks later I had to drive to Norfolk from London in my chavalier and it pi$$ed me off so much being stuck behind traffic I didn't have the power to overtake I went and bought a sierra cosworth.
Works out much cheaper on insurance, parts (it IS a sierra after all) e.t.c, so can just about afford it, where as the scoob was unaffordable (insurance mainly). |
alfa romeo apider (gtv shape)
bored of it now after 3 months! changed it for a car with no roof. jamo :D |
Evo 8 FQ330
Because scoobys are common as sh1t, values were going through the floor, wanted something a little more unique, something to put the grin back on my face (I had an 03 STi PPP prior) and finally I needed something bigger for the kids. |
Swapped Catalunya for a MY99 PPP (cos it was better)
Swapped MY99 for a 22B(cos it was better again) Swapped Bugeye for an S3 (because I thought the bugeye too heavy and too rattly) Swapped MY03STI for Forester and a 996 C4S (because I thought the 22B was better and I might as well have a family car, 2 STI's is just greedy) Swapped the Forester for a new A3 Sportback 2.0T (because wife wanted smaller car) Chuck |
I bought this last week for pennies.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...a/PICT0126.jpg Since I've had the Suzuki the P1 hasn't even left the drive (1 week). This may be mainly to the fact that it wouldn't start after only being left standing for 60 hours and the battery is 1 year old. A while ago if you'd ask me if I'd ever leave Imprezas the answer would be a resounding NO. However, I feel differently today. TBH I'm very cheesed off with the running costs of the car. Over £45 to fill the tank with premium grade fuel, £65 an hour dealer charges for what basically amounts to oil changes most of the time, carjack/thief magnet, obsessive about where it's parked and I've just had a renewal quote that's £500 up from my current insurance with no circumstance change. For the insurance alone on my renewal, it would be enough to buy the above jeep and insure it for a year, even on a second car policy with no 'no-claims' accured. £20 to fill the tank up, and when you've gotten used to the ride, it's a much more fun car to have than the P1. The insurance company don't even care that it hasn't got an alarm. I did a brief mental calculation, and the amount of money I've spent keeping an Impreza on the road for 7 years, if I'd have used that money to buy a house, rent it out and sell it now, I'd have well over £100,000 in the bank rather than suffer £50,000 loss due to depreciation running costs etc with Imprezas. Finding it harder and harder to justify keeping the car, especially with obsessiveness about speed cameras. It's a fantastic car, but I don't think I'll be keeping it long, and I won't be replacing it with another Impreza. Probably keep the jeep for off road and fun, and get a diesel something for motorway trips. Got the diesel in the end;) 115 bhp 6 speed golf gt tdi. Have done 6k on it in the 8 weeks I've owned it. Haven't moved the p1 in 10 weeks now  |
Swapped my Scooby for a 7 year old Volkswagen Vento TD (!), freed up some cash to go snowboarding for a season and buy a house on my return. Swapped the Vento for a mint Mk2 Golf GTI after a year. :)
|
Yamaha R6 & a Vauxhall Vectra Club !!
Why: To avoid the M25 roadworks and to have a standby car in case it snows this winter. |
I needed something bigger for the kids. |
Changed my STi for a BoxsterS.....mainly because I wanted something better built & would hold its value better. Also because the image of the Scoobys was getting very very bad.
Got annoyed at the drop in performance (though raise in ever other department) so got a C2 996, then a C4S & now a 996 Turbo which just amazes me everytime I drive it. Rump. |
after ploughing almost the cost of the car into mods for a 2002 bugeye wrx, I saw sense and flogged the bits, and then the car and bought a 2001 passat 130 tdi sport.
Running costs of the scoob were just too high, given that I was using it as my company car. I can honestly say I hardly miss it at all. |
Swapped my scoob for a Westfield and a cheap estate runaround, problem is the cheap runaround ended up being a WRX wagon.
but I'm happy :D |
Swapped my03 sti for a M5 then 2 months later swapped the M5 for a
S202 :norty: |
Always had bikes, fancied a change, bought a scoob, for me 4 wheels = twice the price + half the fun of a bike
Bought a Hayabusa Love anything fast though, and if i had the dollars id have another Scoob or an Evo alongside the bike... |
i would only swop my scoob for lisa rodgers
|
Had 3 scoobs :)
Now got an Evo v because for me it's better than all of the scoobs i have owned. MY95 uk, STi V 1 and STi V4 type r. Also there are so many scoobs around this way and mostly they have been chavved with lexus lights, flammers etc :D |
Changed my MY00 back in 2001 for a Porsche 993 to achieve a long time dream. Now had two of them (993's) and while the flat 4 in a scooby is good, a flat 6 in a 993 is even better!
|
Golf R32, AmD tweaked (Milltek exhaust, remapped, 272bhp on AmD's rollers :D ).
Why? Chavs buying £3k imports made owning an Impreza (my last, STI Type UK) embarrasing :( I might buy another Subaru, but if so it will be a Forester STI import from Iain Litchfield :) PS - Hi Chucky boy, how ya doing? :D |
after having two scoobs, i fancied a change,(and also had another sprog), so got a Mercedes ML black with the AMG bodykit, absolutly love it! engulfs all things related to kids, garden refuse ,building materials the lot, after this one i will definatly go back to a scooby(and keep the ml too i hope!
regards dave |
sti v5 to p1 to evo7 to p1 and now finally evo 8 fq330. p1 got a bit dated and was very cramped in the back with the kids. Evo 8 is best car yet, although the P1 was fantastic
|

Scoob got lifted along with NCB - Got a BM 523 - it can shift and it costs 600 a year to insure instead of 5k. also get 30 mpg sometimes
|
scoob to evo
Moved from V5 STI RA limted to EVO 6 TME. Handles better and is a lot more planted.
Not as scary or unpredictable as the scooby but quicker.. |
STi Ver 8 PPP to Porsche 996 C2.
Miss the Subaru though. Simon |
