Unclebuck, would you have advocated the similar police treatment of UK citizens behaving in the same manner but this time protesting against the war in Iraq?

Sorry, I should have explained. The same manner in which the pro fox hunters were behaving (cleary you saw the footage on the news).

Given Diablo's involvement in this thread I find it quite suprising how many personal insults have been allowed to slip through, particularly from one rather outspoken individual who happens to support the same views as his own, albeit a little more "agressively".

But as our esteemed moderator says, he is only human and consequentially cannot be impartial.....

Well maybe he like several others has had enough of the pseudo political BS peddled by certain individuals on this board as well as the accusations of trolling, baiting, taking the moral high ground or political correctness that get hurled at anyone who dares to have a differing opinion to them.

Just a thought!

Are you referring to the demonstrators who were being goaded and intimidated by the Police? My opinion is that the whole policing operation was extremely heavy hand and poorly controlled. If the same happened to any group of legitimate protesters of course I would feel the same. What’s your point?

Here's another 'thought'. I don't accuse anybody of anything - unlike you with this post. My opinions are mine to hold. you can try and twist things around as much as you like, but I think we only need to travel back a page or two to see how really indulges in that which you accuse me of. And to think you bang on about 'irony' lol

usually when I don't respond to a post it means that I don't want to dignify it with an answer, as would be the case with this one. However, in the light of recent accusations of 'running away' I'll say this - "yea, right."

Now I've got things to get on with so if I don't respond to the *next* taunt you'll know why in advance.

Personal insults...LOL...

You guys lead far too sheltered a life

And yes Tiggers, (and edit to include ajm ) I am totally fed up with all the pseudo political BS as you so well put it .

All this crap about the bigger issue. Its ****e IMPO. Those doing it, and its not just UB are simply using an issue to make a wider point. No different to the actions of the politicians that are being so heavily criticised for doing just that. There's real irony for you.

Get the details right, and the rest of the pieces will fall into place.

Personally I don't care what Blair's motives are on this occasion. Of course he doesn't give a toss about the Fox, or the cruelty issue, just like he doesn't give a toss about the environment.

The fact that something is being done at all is what I care about.

Don't be confused Unclebuck. I just wanted to know your opinion, because it is always well-informed. I agree that the policing was heavy handed, especially when the police started to tear down the metal fencing to get at the protesters. Worse still, taunting the protestors with hunting horns just adds insult to injury. The police had no reason to use smoke bombs either as the tree-hugging protesters were so peaceful. And since when did the police start to use industrial size bird scarers on peaceful protesters? Lets hope the police adopt a lighter approach when it comes to the anti-war protesters.

Excellent, I could take this as official SN sanction to "pep up" my own arguments for effect by padding them out with phrases such as "clueless nobbers", "a pox be on you", "prize dork" and "tosspot", although I suspect to do so would end in castigation, unless our opinions align of course .....

LOL

You could, but then I am simply a humble moderator and do not speak for or on behalf of Scoobynet or Scoobynet Ltd.

However, none of the terms you used would be deemed unsuitable by me in my capacity as a moderator, due to the number of clueless nobbers, prize dorks and tosspots that are known to post

Seriously, can you read? I've outlined time and time again why I think fox hunting should be banned, and it's got f*ck all to do with just thinking foxes are small furry animals. I'm beggining to think you really are just a rent-a-quote loudmouth that can't follow a debate.
Here's a quick question for you. Take your time if it's too difficult.

You are fervently against banning fox hunting, backing up your position with comments like this:

These are two entirely contradictory viewpoints. Either the government does something about animal cruelty, or it stands by and lets everyone get on with it. The "civil liberties" card is one of your favourite ones to play in favour of hunting, and here you are bleating that the government doesn't do enough to influence the behaviour of society twoards animals. Which one of these statements represents your opinion, or can you not remember what you're on about from one post to the next?

Try reading the posts again - stop floundering and debate the specific points in future. Plenty of people have understood them and debated them.
