I would appreciate some advise please.
I have only done two track days in this scoob. Both with 17" wheels fitted with some cheap tyres.
I now have 18" with T1's proxi's which i dont want to trash.
The car itself is fairly sorted as far as it has solid drop links, whiteline adjustable roll bar, anti lift, poly bushes etc.
I have a set of 16" i can use,The question is do i go for some sort of track tyre,if there is such a thing.
Will i benifit from such a trye or will just a set of road tyres do.
Bear in mind i am no expert on the track.
Thanks for any advise.

R rated tyres will make you a second or 2 quicker per lap (if its dry) but cost around £150 a corner and will wear quickly if used on the road.
Stick the 16's on mate with part worn tyres and enjoy it rather than worrying about your 18's.
If your a novice I would go for standard tyres as they give more feedback then R rated ones. R rated dont screach in the same way so you can be close to the limit without knowing it.....
thats my opinion anyway ......

Thank you,i think that sounds like the route for me to go.What profile should i get?
I am purposely stopping myself from getting to much into tracking the scoob.
I raced motox, then karts cost me a damn fortune.
I am so looking forward to seing how my mate gets on with his 500bhp esprit.
He has never been on track, and is scared half to death of his esprit on the road.just hope he enjoys the day with no misshaps.
Thanks again

Dont buy new tyres just for this one track day mate. See if you can pick up some part worn ones from somewhere. Stick a note in wanted on here or any other sites you can think of.
Tyres are very important, infact probably THE most important thing for the serious track goer but it really isnt worth spending £400-600 on tyres if your only going to do it once.
If you decide to buy new then buy standard profile for the car.
500bhp lotus should be fun ..... i hope he has breakdown recovery ........LOTUS......loads of trouble usually serious .......

He is looking at lsd which is nearly 2.5k and a six speed quaife which is 5.5k.

Take some catching down the straights though.
We have had a couple of little plays, scooby is far quicker round the bends, but damn the V8 its sooo quick on a straight.
I owned a 1.9 pug for a while, wicked fun,i am looking forward to seeing you on track.
We are going to the ring in september,so i need to pick your brains at some point.

Gutman,
Have you ever changed the indicators on yours? I've lost both lenses on mine, but they still work fine. I have a pair of clear lenses sitting in the boot to replace the broken ones. I got as far as removing the grill and undoing the retaining clips on the heaplamps, but I couldn't remove the whole unit due to the 'black' clip on the top, which I couldn't see how to remove.
Can I tap your vast knowledge on how to remove them, or perhaps you could give me a hand at Bedford
A 1000 apologies for going way off thread, you can reply via the PM if necessary.
Cheers

Its not a job i've had to do before but it cant be difficult. Im suprised they didnt just fall out when you removed the retaining clip being as they are from 15 year old french clutter. Must be fitted using no nails I will have a look later on if I get chance, if not im sure we can sort them at Bedford.
