As you may have noticed, neither Colin McRae nor Richard Burns drives a Subaru any more (maybe they were concerned about the number of chavs driving them )

You could use the same argument for driving a Peugeot 405 (Ari Vatanen), Toyota Corolla (Carlos Sainz) or a Skoda Fabia (Armin Schwarz)

Fact is that around our way there are numerous tracksuit wearing, bling-bling chain sporting, Burberry cap wearing chavs driving Imprezas.

 

Carl, yes you could: all fine cars...although I can't help but feel that the scooby has a little more in common with the rally car than the other models! ;-) And none of the other drivers- exceptional though they are- are from the UK! :-)

Honestly, I've yet to see a Scooby with a Chav at the helm! Must be the area I live in I guess!

Come on, anything aspirational like a Scoob, when it gets cheaper people with less money buy it, the first owners are either enthusiasts, loaded and clueless or its on the company, therefore as it gets older and cheaper people with less money can afford it, usually as a rule of thumb people with more money are more intelligent, very general I know buy bear with me, more intelligent people are usually more subtle and have more taste, this is why Chavs buy (and ruin) Scoobs it is also why they also buy and ruin Novas etc because this is what they can afford, when the claims direct cheque comes in they buy the Autotrader and scan for the K reg Scoob turbos.

Trouble is they are after the same cars that less well heeled enthusiasts are after as well, hence the confrontation, angst and unpleasantness between the 'Chavs' and the 'Chav Nots' we are seeing here today, a Scoob is only Chav if driven by a Chav, are you a Chav ?, think about it and answer truthfully to the following

The only issue I would take up with you is the assertion that earnings correlate positively with inteligence. Upon finishing my PhD, I was a little dissapointed to find that I'd only get paid only marginally more than some local council roadsweepers! Needless to say, I couldn't afford a brand-spanking new Sti PPP

Ed, not as far as I'm concerned its not! That's a great example of a classic Scooby! I still don't think Scoobies are nearly outrageous and in-yer-face enough for chavs. Just look at your average maxed nova and corsa and you'll see what I mean!

I thought some comment would be made about the houses.

Actually the estate used to be owned by the M. O. D. not the council. The houses are bought in job lots and sold on. There not pretty, but 48K for a 3 bed semi was too much of a bargain to pass up.

And anyway I needed somewhere to house my sprog born out of wedlock to almost a teenager well 20 but close enough to 19 to get front row seats on Trisha.
