if hes just got the car it will be his driving thats effecting his MPG

i used to average about 160 to 180 miles out of a tank of optimax

nowadays its about 220 average and that includes sum late night boosting about on the way home from back shift

on a trip from reading to newcastle i clocked up 282 miles before i was aproaching scotch corner services, theres a optimax garage just before it so i filled up again, i rekon i could have cracked 300 miles to a tank, the needle was near the bottom of the final notch

but as that was the last optimax garage for miles i just tanked it back up

i was actualy really impresed with that, and i sat on the motorway at about 80 most of the time, i always thought getting a decent MPG out of them was impossible, well it is when you first get the car because you nail it every where

Well I think someone has cut my fuel line!! I've had my 04STI 2 months now and been getting 220-250 per tank, I filled up on Tuesday, done 130 miles and the low fuel light is on! Driving style no different from normal and same journey to and from work.

MY99 UK Turbo with essential breathing mods..

Get about 320 miles on full tank before warning light comes on - driving urban, dual carriage mostly..

Works out at 28.1mpg.. and I do cane it occasionally !

I get between 150-170 miles out of my MY96 UK turbo, only mods - Full exhaust de-catted, downpipe and dawes device runing 0.9 bar of boost, this is both driving it easy and sensible aswell as getting a bit carried away now and then.

If you had been in a mk2 escort ,u could double its value with £4o quids worth!!
They were a lot of fun,I must admit, but I put more front wings on due to losing the back end on corners and crashing into walls ,railings etc than I care to remember.
I could razz over Belmont towards Blackpool several times a week on that tenner, having many a duel.
It just shows how ripped off we are now paying extortionate sums for fuel, thats why I made comment about tenners worth.
By the way I am only 34 so not to ancient!

MY03, rarely more than 20 to the gallon. 96STiRA, approx 17mpg.

I really don't know how some of you get 300+ out of a tankful, think my best was about 240

Sounds like fun....I did own a 325i beemer for a short while and it was fun for stepping the **** out....it was rather thirsty too I remember!
Yes petrol in this country is a rip off but nothing will ever be done about it IMO, the government just wouldnt budge. It costs me about a tenner to drive to work in the scoob every day FFS!!!

Im still just a young pup at 22, I do respect my elders however

Used to get very steady 23 - 24 mpg, until changed downpipe and now 19-20 mgp!

On my MY94 60l tank I get around 220 - 230 miles.

Thought I had changed into a girl with my driving but after reading some of these I feel releived...just had a H&S Down pipe and back box fitted and now have managed to reach 321 miles off 53 litres of Asda's finest regular unleaded!!!!

Also noted the improvements in performance with new pipes...well worth it on both counts!! (max before was 280 miles per tank)
