p1 trade in value
What car is worth 'good' money on a p/ex?? Mitsi dealers do seem to excell at crap offers though. A mate took his '99 Integra Type R (55k mls) to see about doing a deal on an evo7 gsr (import) at a mitsi dealer a couple of months back, evo was far from tidy but window price was £20.5k!! (30k mls) and they offered £4300 for the teg!! They also had a 45k mls evo6 on forecourt for £18k...WTF? probably gave the previous owner £6k for it..... at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!!!!!

How often does this topic come up? We all know that dealers have to make a living! If you don't want to be insulted don't take your car to a dealer, or at least go to the same model dealer where you are more likely to get a better price. Two years ago I bought after a six month wait, a new mini cooper s. Found it to small (and slow!!!) so I P/Xed it for a my/02 wrx (new) the mini had just 1100 miles and was 5 months old. BMW told me "we need to take £2k out of the car" in other words I paid £16.5k they offered me as a straight buy back......................£13.5k!!!! (£14.5k as a part ex) in the end it cost me £4k to change but still lost £2.5k in 5 months. Iv'e just lost another £2k on my latest car, and will definitely loose again on the next car. That's life if you don't like it buy a new car and keep it forever!! or buy a shed that costs nothing to buy that way you won't loose anything when you sell it! At the end of the day we all buy new cars in the knowledge that as soon as we're out of the showroom the VAT's gone west that's 17.% of the value gone straight away. Most main dealers want £1k-£1.5k minimum out of a trade in and, won't/can't go below that figure! But usually want more so they can be seen to give a bigger "discount" when doing a deal. Live with it, or stop trading cars. But stop moaning about it!!!
