Bob.T - You sound like the kind of bloke who doesn't give a second thought for the poor flies that get slaughtered everyday on Britains Roads - Shame on you .

Ban Cars - Save a Flies Life !

To Get back on Topic - I'm a Glass and Paper man - Mainy because my wife is **** scared of Spiders and she thinks I'm some sort of Superhero for taking them on with a mere Glass and Paper and yet being a caring soul 'cos I don't want to Kill Them !

It's quite a challenge catching some of the bigger ones - they're really fast and not bad at the occaisional JUMP - which really gets the missus excited .

He ran under your bed and you managed to sleep in it with him still under there???

I woke up one night and heard some scratching, I eventually lifted up my mattress and saw a cute little mouse sitting right under my bed munching on an old extra strong mint that had been dropped there, he was sooo sweet that I just sat and watched him. I have no fear of mice, rats, snakes, earwigs, cockroaches or any other crawling insects, it's just spiders that scare the crap outta me, oh and I don't like moths much either

i remember once coming home to my old flat i turned on the bedroom lightswitch and this, what can only be decribed as a mammoth spider was about 1 cm away from my lightswitch on the wall.
coupled with the shadow thrown upon it, my heart missed a beat and i pulled back to a safe layup zone in the comfort of the kitchen to work out my plan of attack.

i weighed up the options, looking for maximum distance attack (personal safety reasons), accuracy (sometimes you only get one go at them) and power (didnt want the thing to come alive again and seek revenge in the still of night)

under the sweating brow, my mind was running on overdrive now, racing through all the spider documentaries i'd seen, trying to remeber techniques etc.

i need to do something, and quick!!!

there it was, lying by the back door, a size 9 slipper of the moccassin family, with the european standard rubber sole (flexible enough so as not to spoil the comfy effect, but hard enough for chasing burglars and inhibiting the saturation of puddles, when out on a newspaper reccie.

The slipper it was.

It seemed to grow in size as i looked at it, like a powerful weapon of mass destruction.
I picked it up carefully weighed it up, spun it round a few times to check the balance and then gingerly made my way to the intruder's lair.

after a couple of CI5 style bounces of the walls, i neared the bedroom doorway.

taking the last few steps like grasshopper on rice paper i let out a ninja style wail and in one swift move, rounded the corner with about 400 tonnes per square inch of slipper pressure heading towards the lightswitch.

....The spider had gone

moral of the story - Kill the ****er while you still can.

epilogue: I moved home.

sleep tight

I really don’t like spiders, yes I know they are tiny little things that won’t harm you (in England anyway) but ………

Find the “rolled up local freebie newspaper” technique the best / bravest approach especially when wife/ daughter are enduring the frozen with fear scenario.

I hate spiders, and one tried to ambush me yesterday in the car!

returning to the car park, it was raining, so I was trying to get in quickly. Opened the drivers door, and a big meaty spider with desert camo dropped from the top door seal! If I'd not been paying attention, I'd have jumped straight in and he'd be in my hair! cue motorway driving and matey taking a trip over my face = multiple pileup.
