Ricky, talk to Lee or jump in his Datsun on the next trackday!

Two totally different cars in my opinion, the best way to describe it is by going for a blast in a Datsun, both awesome cars but designed for different disciplines, both great in their own right though

Picture whoring.....

The R34 was a dream car for me and when I sold my supra I got taken out in a R34 vspec running around 600bhp, rear rollcage, massive AP brakes, etc. It sold me... I wanted one! It sort of blended the silly power of the supra with the driveability of the impreza. It might not be as quick of the line as a STi, although it would be close!

Last year, I had the opportunity... the problem was, the R34s are rather dated now, especially inside. Still an awesome machine and very rare on the road - I have only seen 1 on the road.

So instead, I went for the R35 GTR - spectacular car!!! Even the 2010 model (which I have) - car is booked in with RyanG (supra and GTR world mapper) and with a ypipe, panel filters and an ECUTek remap, I should be getting 600bhp. Up from the 500bhp as standard....

Prices:
K&N panel filers - £100
Milltek ypipe - £400
ECUTek remap (engine and 2012 gearbox software) - £850

So for a grand total of £1350 I will add 100bhp to the GTR and improve the gear changes... NO BRAINER for me!! Base SRR figure was 500bhp before any parts were added....... and with launch control, I seriously doubt a spec C will get off the line quicker

I agree... but I would seriously doubt that you can get an R34 GTR for that sort of money either.

Thanks for comments so far. Ideally an R35 or if not an R34 would be the one, the first due to its all round performance and the latter more because of its iconic status and exclusivity.

But I think these days the way prices are sitting, a better comparison would be between an R32/ 33 vs a Newage twin scroll. (i.e JDM sti's / spec c's/ RA /RAR / S202 / S203 / S204 etc). I almost feel tempted to keep my mildly tuned Ver9 JDM Sti and one day get an R32 or R33!

I've owned two R34's and 3 Impreza's. And they are such different machines. For ME the R34 is the far superior car.

In comparison the skyline is a much larger and heavier feeling car, the straight six delivers a smooth hard pull to the red line without breaking a sweat.
But on the other had the Impreza has that brutal power delivery from low down revs and eats up those lovely windy country lanes which the skyline wasn't too keen on doing.

I sold my first one due to my little nipper arriving but had to sell my second 34 as the running costs got a bit mental especially fuel!

really it depends on what you like to do with a car, if you're into your windy back lanes and a few tracks days then the Impreza is probably the best choice, but if you want a power monster and love track days and like a bit more of an open road then the 34 is the way forward!

really though, the best advice any one could give is go and drive both cars. It's the only way you will be able the two apart!

hope that helps
Baz

True but you can get them for around the £18-20k mark, I think the R35 would be twice that though, I`m not knocking them as i would have either

last time I checked, the decent ones were 27-30k, not a bad machine for 20k!

I would definitely go for the GTR (34 or 35) depending on budget - luckily mine stretched to the 35 and I am not looking back. Love the car!! 8-9 months of ownership and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

I would seriously doubt that. Most are suggesting that the R35s have reached the lower limit. Only the 2008-2010 models sold for £60k. After that they went up to 72k and are now at 78k.

Nissan apparently made a lose on the initial cars hence the drastic increase in prices.

Saying that, I did see a bare shell for $15k US
