Well for me a skyline is the baddest bad boy of the Jap Cars. If it was scooby or Skyline, easy Skyline,

But you have chosen a special scooby, the spec C. Which is my favorite Scooby of them all!

So now the choice is very tricky!

It will all come down to what you want from it. Are you going to just leave it standard and enjoy it, or are you going to start modding it? Skyline is probably much more mod-able. To silly powers, but after owning a Tuscan, do you need silly power again, or would you prefer to chill with the C and go round corners much quicker ;)

Think you should go out and have a play in a skyline, then as big bro says... YOU DECIDE!

Whatever you choice they are both awesome, so you wont be disappointed!

Andy H STi 06 August 2004 02:26 PM

Without a doubt, R34 matey ( if its a GTR ), or Scooby Spec C if its not!

Them cars are just awesome, the looks, the power, the gadgetry etc......

I am lucky enough to live round the corner from Middlehursts and see them all the time, and as soon as I win ( posotive thinking there ) the lottery I will be down to buy the blue 450bhp one they have in there at the mo.

So in my opinion R34 no question.

Andy

Never driven one: I've heard they are amazing but I couldn't live with the looks :Whatever_

tuscan57 06 August 2004 05:57 PM

ah decision decision!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TonyBurns 06 August 2004 06:41 PM

Steve, no doubt you will get your ass whooped by a clio cup in one of these due to the power to weight ratio ;)

Still not made your mind up? ;)
If you want something jap but different then the Skyline is the way to go, if you want a Subaru and you want to be different then the Spec C is the way to go, i think the Skyline would be a better daily driver, especially over long distances though.

Tony:D

Nathan L 06 August 2004 06:49 PM

If it's not a GTR VSPEC then an STi Spec C.

Cornelius 06 August 2004 06:50 PM

mmmmmm, GTR with a f l a m e r:p ;)

gatty 06 August 2004 08:06 PM

scoob all the way!!!!!! whats wrong with every one? no contest . spec c its got to be!

are those skylines that much quicker then? in all disaplines? straight line speed is for pussys!

T5NYW 06 August 2004 08:24 PM

Pesonally I'd love a MY05 Spec C with a 2.5ltr tweaked by RCM  just to give it a bit more punch :D

Although the Skylines are Lovely they "don't float my Boat" there again nor do 'Porkers' now a Ferrari  that's different.

Whooops me dreaming again ;) back to the question You've owned a Scoob but never a Skyline, so I'd say get...............The Skyline

Tony

Ps enjoy whichever you get

SiDHEaD 06 August 2004 09:48 PM

What about a T25 Scoob if not a V-Spec??? Defo the biz!

scoobyboy1 06 August 2004 10:15 PM

I know someone who owns a R34 skyline, on a 51 plate last of the r34s and its close to 600bhp, if anyone who lives near walsall know MIJ performance then thell know what skyline im on about, its one of the best cars ive ever seen.

hoskib 07 August 2004 02:53 PM

depends if you've owned a scooby before. if i was in your position (currently own a scoob, previous car was a scoob) i would get the skyline. no questions asked.
a different car to the scooby and a 'must have car' in my book.

saying that, if your budget can spread that far, why not a type 25? or even a mitsi evo?

Fangoria 07 August 2004 07:44 PM

Skyline wins every time............. in a different class........ You dont see too mony Kev boy racers in the R34......... you do in the Scoob.

So easy/cheap to get another 150bhp out of............

Saying that having test driven a supposed 550bhp spec R34 (I was gonna buy one just over a year back) I wasnt that impressed - thought it was slower from 0- 100 than my mildly modded sti5.............

If I had neither then defo the Skyline as first choice

BlueBoy 08 August 2004 12:19 AM

Had the same decision when I bought my Evo - Skyline or Scoob instead (well the STi7 was out at the time and I decided the looks just weren't for me) so that came down to the Skyline or Evo and I plumped for the Evo.

The Skyline looks the business, it's so rare on the road (and in Bayside Blue or the Midnight Purple it's got so much presence on the road), the ability to get far more power out of it is the best thing, but alhough you can do it cheapy to an extent, you also have to consider the running costs as well when you do, fuel & servicing was far more expensive when I looked into the maintenance.

The only problem I had was when I got in and drove it. The clutch was on the heavy side, the car felt slower (in standard guise) than a normal UK Turbo and it wasn't as positive behind the wheel for me.

Last year I had the same dilema as well, having got fed up with Evo's I had the choice of the Skyline or Scoobs. Once more, maintenance was in the back of my mind but I had the test drives (several long ones) and it proved again that the Skyline just wasn't for me in terms of driving pleasure, even though I really wanted to get one for the looks alone. So I ended up with my current car - SpecC ;)

I've never looked back, it's by far the nicest car I've ever owned and so easy to drive either round town, on the motorway or of course on the A and B Roads :D:D ;) The running costs aren't to burning on the back pocket and it meets my needs for the 30K miles I do each year!

Holy cow thread resurrection!!! Though since 2004 the tuning game for both has moved on, so with mild to moderate tuning of both in mind , are people's opinions the same? Also for more of an open debate the R33 / R32 / and all twin scroll newages too.

P600wrx 30 April 2012 05:40 PM

Spec c, I too like the r34 but a spec c mmmmmmmmmmm, u know ur gonna love it when the roads are wet and u can drive round a corner and not worry incur gonna be facing the traffic behind you lol,

The Pink Ninja 30 April 2012 09:10 PM

I'd say spec c but really like the R34 GTR V-Spec(Nur or Nismo edition preferably) and it's probably one of the only other cars I would change for, The other being an R35 GTR :D

jayallen 30 April 2012 09:15 PM

For me the GTR Skyline is the Daddy of Japanese cars, i will own an R32 GTR!

jme-rst 30 April 2012 10:10 PM

another one for the r32 GTR best looking skyline by far imo

jura11 30 April 2012 10:21 PM

R35 GTR for me,but still love the look of the R32 or Datsun Fairlday Z(and on this based TOMITAKU S30) and not last RX7
