I have been thinking along the lines of a PDA satnav unit, so I would be interested in that. Are the cables available to use the NMEA output from the RA2?
Thanks

How have you lot fitted it in? Have you used the bracket or the sticky pad?
I have stuck the bracket to the screen but the stretchy cable cuts right over my stereo, makes it look a bit unsightly.
Has any one used the straight cable and managed to get it to go up the back of the dash (blob eye)? If so was it easy?

Used the sticky pad and stuck it ontop of the clock, looks really good, i'm going to hard wire it in, passing the wire through the top of the clock trim thingy and pick the power up from the clock itself (Blobeye)

I registered mine on Thursday night and still haven't got an e-mail from Blackspot..... but the RA works at treat and was doing so from about 2:30 Friday afternoon!!!
All I need to test now is the laser alert - which I'm not looking forward to!!
Just a one quick query if anyone knows the answer - School zoone alert. Got this activated and went past a couple of schools on my way to the rally on Friday night but no alert. Is it connected to the clock in that it goes off when schools are traditionally starting and kicking out?

Blackspot will probably refer you to Handnav as they deal with the leads, cradles etc

I like it, its nice and easy to use, and the laser alert sure is working I find it does take about 30 seconds to pick up the satellites though, even the mrs thinks its a worthy gadget.
Thanks

Very happy with it, and my mates who have been in the car (1 of which got banned for speeding last week) want one now! Not had chance to check laser alert, but i have been looking out for someone to test it
Anymore info movement on GB for PDA and navigation software (tomtom?). I would be very interested in a full package that used the RA for the GPS reciever (don't want loads of things on my dash )

Tested it in south wales over the weekend and I'm finding it very easy to use.
Just a question of getting your persoanl preferrrences sorted and away you go. Probably update the download in the next couple of days to see how quick it is. Not sure whether the school alert is functioning properly yet though.
Very pleased with buy.
Cheers.

Mine arrived today.
Thanks Jason for keeping hold of mine till I got back from Malta.
Registered & 63% downloaded the gubbins.
Then just wait for my email tomorrow.
Have heard tales that spirited driving can induce enough G forces to detatch unit from mag mount.
Scoobynet myth or fact? Bluetac at the ready just in case.
Thanks to Jason for all your effort.
Mark.

Cheers mate, got mine last week, registered it - Do they send a email to confirm ??
As i still cant update it, it gets to 75% into updating and the updating program hangs. exit the updating programme and you get a runtime error `91`
Without the update it dosent pick out any of the fixed cameras in Norwich

I think you can update it although it has not been registered. also there could also be a problem with your firewall affecting the updater, just to let you know I have broadband and mine took about 10 minutes to update.
Thanks

24 hours is up & I just checked but no further email. I did the Synchronisation thing but have yet to try it in the car.
Will be doing that tomorrow.
Oh & what is the "Mapping Baud Rate" all about? I know the Baud rate and the Kilo Bits Per Second rate are similar but not identical.
What is the setting for 56 Kbps - 4800?

dunno, dunno, dunno.
It takes ages to update. . . but it's only once every couple of weeks & it IS idiot proof.
Perhaps upping the baudrate will help but i doubt it. It's the speed it communicates with the "device" at the other end when transferring gps data.

1.The volume of the bleeps is plenty loud enough at 60% even with a fair bit of cabin noise.I tried the "single beep" setting for cameras but found it too laid back.I prefer the rising beep to give a sense of impending doom.
I found the single beep is better suited to the Safety Alert warnings.
2.The voice warnings are a bit wimpy & mumbled & anyone with more than a PPP type back box will be struggling to hear them above the burble.
3.I have played around with the "contrast" for the display and the blue background is pretty clear.
But does anyone else find with the red background it is harder to see the symbols?
4.Went past a few schools but had no response. It's defo switched on so not sure why its not reacting.
5.I played about with the mounting position & as my SECS monitor pod is quite prominent on top of the dash I am going to use the magnetic sticky pad on it & then hard wire into the pod & pick up either the redundant power feed to the clock or the feed to the radio.
Prominent pod.
6.When I hard wire it I will do it via a jack plug on the power lead to a socket on the pod so that moving from car to PC or mag mount to glove box will be easier. No fiddling around trying to get the plug in & out the back of the unit, just yank the jack plug out of the dash.
I will put up pictures of my wiring attempt as & when.Similar to this :-
