I'm sure the result would've been different if Mike Wood was driving.

These hatchback 'infants' have a real inferiority complex
You really think it's the hatchback owners who have the complex? They don't seem to be the ones that get bent out of shape when something faster comes along. But then I guess they don't think they own the fastest car on the road, unlike a lot of subaru owners.
210-240hp nowadays is nothing really is it? Not in a 1400kg car. I think 200-225hp in a 600kg car is too slow. Maybe I should get a WR1

Fooking ugly too

If the 13.04@99mph is your time, that's hardly taking off is it? More like, gently rising

Too true. A scooby wouldn't gain any significant advantage over a 172 or a CTR IMHO

It was a good one, looked nice though. The 944 is a million times quicker - whatever the raod unless its ice/gravel/mud.

There’s me thinking this is a forum for subaru owners. Just becoming a forum to be hi-jacked with car owners that don’t have decent forums for their cars! I wonder why?

The red WRX in the video did a 1.9 60 ft and did not miss any gears in that run, I raced that Red one 3 times and beat it 3 times raced the silver one twice and beat it twice.

You need a balanced argument, otherwise all Subaru drivers really would think they have the fastest car!

I was on the camera for those runs. The reason we have posted the links is largely due to the in-fighting caused by a few Impreza trolls who would not believe a lightly modded Cup could do so much damage!!

The red WRX STi(apparently) in qustion did a 1.9 60ft time in the run shown in the vid clip, my bro's Cup just kept on pulling on it all the way up the strip.

A few unscientific tests on the way home found that I(P1) couldn't gain an inch from a rolling start in 1st and 2nd, only creeping up on him in 3rd.

Personally I'd opt for a Clio Cup (or the new 182) over a UK WRX any day of the week, I mean 85% of the performance for almost half the purchase price, cheaper insurance, lower fuel bills, and longer service intervals who wouldn't?

And you do just that then, by coming on here with the “my car is faster than yours” culture.... where is the balance in that??

Me for one. I need 4 doors. I need a safer car than a CCup.
I’m not to bothered about running costs... blah, blah Im not saying MY03 is the fastest thing on the road... far from it. but getting to 60 in 5.5sec and to 100 in 15.5 is a good indication that it can mix with the best, and a few tweaks can make it even better, if the need.

I averaged 40.1 mpg coming back from Croft Circuit on Sunday at an average speed of 85 mph

um.

14sec 1/4 mile clio cup? Big deal....

Neither of the two imprezas ran well, or where in good condition (hence the times) so hardly much of an accomplishment.

Find me a clio that ton up will shove you back in the seat when you accelerate and I might consider swapping my classic sti for it.

Fact one particular modded clio beat two knackered imprezas, doesnt mean overall it's a quicker car.

Sick of the clio boys continually bragging.

Well done the Clio boys!
I'd be well chuffed if a stuffed an impreza turbo using what is commonly thought to be a weaker car. If I stuffed two of them in a row I'd be almost orgasmic.

10 years ago this argument would have never taken place.

Scoobs have got slower.....Clio's have got quicker where they have now met each other face to face in the performance race.

I used to have a Mk1 Clio 172, it WAS quicker than any MY01, 02 bug eye effort. Not arguing....it was. The Clio was slower to 60 by a larger margin than it was slower to 100 THEREFORE in gear (where it matters) the Clio was quicker....as I proved a few times much to even my amazement.

I didn't like the Clio much. Speed isn't everything
IMO.

The new 172 Cup however, I DO like. Alot.

With all said, I'm not surprised why the Clio beat this Scoob...not that drag strip means anything though. On the open raod this older WRX was probably quicker though.....

I don't own a Clio and I don't hate Scoobies. Simply stating facts.

I agree with Davyboy on his balanced opinion argument.

You can buy a secondhand impreza, quicker and faster than a clio 172 for less money.

Still a better car?

I'm only chucking in my 10 pence worth about the MY01 car that I hammered in my ****box Mk1 172. It just made me laugh. Those earliy bug eyed WRX's were ****e.

Scoobs are wicked motors. Some of them simply awesome.

is a low 14 sec 1/4 mile that bad (for a scooby i mean)?

only been to santa pod once and did a 14.380 and a 14.260, personally i was quite pleased as i don't really know what it should do. just had a look at the time sheet and my 60ft time seems a bit **** at 2.260, a quick start seems to be a bit of an art then?
it was still good enough on the day to beat my mates RX7 though

still, the car's now running 270 bhp, roll on another RWYB day methinks

I wanted a new car (warranty etc) that handled well and was fun on track days.

So for what I wanted it for, yes it is a better car.

Just ,not as good as my 944 Turbo, but better than my Astra.

WHO?

These hatchback 'infants' have a real inferiority complex
You really think it's the hatchback owners who have the complex?
Yeah I do - Why?

I used to drive a 220bhp 13.56qtr R5Turbo (Best place for an AXGT Boot spoiler I could think of )
And I used to think that car was the bollocks if I got the 'drop' on a Cossie or Monty Turbo. I never checked if it was standard or not.

We all 'grow up' sooner or later and learn from it. My experience was as Trax when I sheared all the teeth off the distributor drive overtaking a Escort Cossie id been chasing on Silverstone straight. The lesson, little uprated cars can only play big games for a short period.

And YES it was a professionally assembled engine, NOT some boosted up 60000 miler
