The reason I sold it and changed to a Subaru is because it was a bitch to drive....wheels still spinning on changing into 4th at ~90ish (and that was in the dry). I can use the Subaru's performance whatever the weather and although it can be a little tricky to get off the line, once you get it right it flies.

2L 16v Nova. Still a few knocking around now.

Agreed about the other comments. A drag strip means nothing. Though I would think the Clio drives a bit better than a Nova though....

Ha Ha - the mods listed will give approx 20bhp extra - so say 190bhp and with a little lightening will give over 180bhp/ton! Scoob to the same point requires 250bhp ....

Scoob driver looked far too gentle to get a proper start ..... *****! If you're going to race - RACE .......

Raaaaarr!!!

Still think drag strips are stupid unless you've a errr...... a dragster. Put them head to head with similar level drivers on a track. Then we can have a discussion.

As I've said before, I can't see the point of crowing about the fact he beat 2 imprezas up a strip.

Anybody can go out and buy a car considerably less than a clio or impreza and murder it on a drag strip. Was it top gear that went out and got an old very cheap jag, stripped it down and raced it around?

Thing is I can load my WRX to the hilt with 4 adults and still have a blast. Not something you can to in a Clio.

It's a crap excuse to justify your car over a Clio!

I know its a broken record comment about the twisties but....it is true!! I've a Porsche 944 Turbo and wouldn't race a Scoob on crappy B roads as they are too bumpy.

Hot hatches are cool on the twisties to......a Clio Cup for arguments sake.

What im saying is that when I have a nearly 9 month old boy and his buggy, toys, junk and all the rest of the stuff you need to lug around, a Clio would be a crap choice of car to own... meaning that some people choose the impreza because of is practicality AND performance. unlike the clio.

Yeah but the Clio would be no good on the wet twisties as it hasn't got ABS

Just the same as we would all crash our cars while parking, if we didn't have sensors,

Or powerful rear wheel drive cars would spin in circles with out traction control.

Most "fun" car I've had is the AX GT!! By a mile.

Porsche is still better though.

Who cares!

I bet I could drive his 'shed' even faster!

These hatchback 'infants' have a real inferiority complex! Having to come onto a BB and post it as if its an everyday occurrence we never noticed.

I dont post on the Porsche sites, just coz I beat a 911 down the lanes. 'All 911's are pants - etc' .

Its nice that you aspire to be something though!

You might have had fun AP, but it would have been crap in the real world of twisties and 1/4 mile sprints.

It was awesome in the twisties. For 3 reasons:

1. It was short wheel based

2. It was very light.

3. I didn't give a f$ck about it....which is 50bhp in anyones book.

It was a excellent fun little motor. Back in the day it was cool and I loved it.

It had about 95bhp (not that pub talk really means ****) and as it was light and stiff with a very short wheel base made it like a roller skate. I loved it.

Thanks for your input though....

Davey boy ........

I know this record is beginning to sound like its broke BUT i still say you will lap ther 'ring' in virtually the same time in your cup as you do in your 944 turbo. I would also hazzard a guess that it would be the same if not quicker than a new age WRX.

Oh and this may sound like a silly thing to say but iddle widdle diddle widdle

It was awesome in the twisties.
Did you maintain your usual 2 mph under the posted limit?

240bhp is peanuts really given the car weights 1.4 tones odd, and the loss of power through the transmission etc.

Clio cup is a great little car, none of the serious motoring hacks slag it off, quite the opporsite. But 1/4 miles doesn't mean much does it, you only use a few gears, and depends how good you are at launching the car. Bent and twisties is the real test, and clio can stand it's ground their too. I remember they used to test the Williams clio with Supra's and Porsches.

Wonder how that 1/4 mile would of worked in the snow though

It won't be as quick as my 944 Turbo.

It will be quicker than an MY01/02/03 WRX.

You've had both so you'd know for sure, you've driven both on the 'Ring to.

I didn't like your MY01, it was....well...slow. Just felt odd.

Mmm... STI though... Bye bye...

I just drove past the last Clio 182 that had a tickle... a new one out of a roundabout...

Quarter mile times and the STI "at least mine" would have been a second in front! in distance a long way!

13.04 @ 99

nice little cars thoug... very nice turning car... I have a Clio DCi 80 a new one and that steers luvly...
Test drove a 172 cup though; and at 80mph floored it and nothing happend... in the STi it just takes off...
