One of my current cars had 115k on it when I bought it, 145k 15 months later, goes astonishingly well, and is as reliable as you can imagine. Servicing is cheap, but it's pricey when things go wrong, though that's rare.

Cost me £6k, was £33k new in 1998. Only real downside is expensive insurance, though it's not awful - about £700 pa.

I wasn't having a pop at high mileage cars as I expect mines will happily do over 100k but I didn't want Scotsman to get it in his head that even though the mileage isn't stated it'll surely be about 60-70k when in reality if its not stated its likely to be considerably higher.

I honestly dont believe that 100K is high mileage for a 'modern' car, particularly a V6. Especially if the 100K is motorway, the wear on all components is minimal. Mine now has nearly 119K but I bet its good for at least 250K before major money needs spending. My dealer mentioned a 400K A6 V6 that was still going strong.
The Pug V6 sounds like a good bet.

Yeah, I noticed the lack of mentioned milleage, and I expect it could be close to the 100k mark or over. Still, as bugeyes said, that wouldn't really be that much for a V6 anyway.

I've noticed you can also get a 406 coupe for that sort of money as well (£4k).

I said,
The real bonus with the Pug is that if you want to spend a little more and can live with 2 doors you can get the coupe version which has a lovely sleek profile

Wouldn't parts be more costly with a lexus?

Nice comfy machines. Possibly a little too big though.

It was from the auction, but it all checks out fine on the HPI. He's just taken it to London (where he works) and is now tempted to advertise it for £8500 to see if he can make a quick £3k!

Having problems finding a V6 Pug 406 up here (central scotland) - but tempted by this mondeo.

2000 FORD MONDEO Hatchback 2.5 V6 Ghia X 5dr Auto
Blue.mot 6/05.fsh.elec s/r,m,w,seats.heated leather seats.multi cd.cruise.phone.dig a/c.aa/rac test welcome. 73000 miles. £4250.

Would get it for less than £4k.

i had one of these as a loan car from work about a year ago. very very comfortable motor, not too shabby performance wise. i liked it.
not sure on used prices etc.. but that seems a bargain, 73000 miles isnt a lot from something that the engine will be very rarely under a lot of load.

Parkers says it should be around the £5.3k mark but with 40k miles. So for the millage it seems about right. I had a 1.8 mondeo back in 96 and loved it.
