Ok, ok.. So I had a discussion with the wife about this, *and* she made me think differently...
I am now hanging my head in shame for the inconsiderate thoughts expressed by myself in earlier posts.
I do see your points now, and I do think it's slightly disgusting (I remember actually feeling a bit like this at the tournament). However, I still maintain that it was an interesting experience, if only to see cultural differences (Note that nowhere in my first post did I say I liked seeing the bull killed, but that it was interesting).
I must not have been thinking clearly, because I am what I call a decent person. I have compassion with animals and humans, and I have never done anything to deliberately harm anyone or anything - I even run around like a lunatic at home trying to catch spiders, wasps etc with a glass and a paper so that I can take them outside instead of killing them even if it usually takes me about half an hour of chasing before i can catch the buggers (the wasps). Every time I think that it would be easier if I just killed them with a rolled up paper, I think that it is probably bad karma.
I think I just got carried away, and let me tell you that it feels like you are watching a movie, when you are looking down at the spectacle in the middle of the arena. If I was in the middle myself, I could not stab the poor bull.
Truly sorry if I upset anyone.
On the positive side, I've learnt something

I am not going to buy this argument that Fishing is as barbaric as Bullfighting.
As far as I am concerned, a fish has a fairly reasonable chance of having an undisturbed existence (Despite all the stories I hear from avid anglers to the contrary)
A bull in a ring, however, has a significant likelyhood of suffering a prolonged and painful death. It has no real chance of escape. And that is the crux of the matter as far as I am concerned.
Give them a sporting chance. But don't winge if you get your *** whipped.
