I would much rather not have to claim for damage in the first place.
My opinion, as you know, is that cats should not be left to roam free as is the situation for dogs. To those who say that cats *must* roam free I would suggest that, if that were the case, then they are not a suitable animal to keep as a domestic pet.
Edited to say if you've really received death threats over these threads, then I'd like to say that although I don't agree with your opinions on this I despise actions such as those. We're all entitled to differences of opinions. Thank god or there's a chance we'd all be like you

IMO cats only ****e on mossy old unkempt lawns, they like to bury their crap of course. My scumbag neighbour who's dog often craps outside my gate most days (as do many other dog 'owners' 'pets') once complained that 'someones' 'cats' were crapping on his lawn (loose term). He failed to see that his dog crapping on the pavement outside my house was a (huge dump) problem until I offered to exchange **** on a one for one basis weekly np

That's more like it, a proper dialogue ....
"Blustering"?
The point is that I should not have to construct traps about my property to catch it, I should be able to call the local authorities. If I were to catch the cat no doubt I would have some hysterical nutcase accusing me of animal cruelty. Theoretically I could take someone to court but there is no legislation such as with dogs to support me and I am not aware of a single case where a such a case has been successfully brought.
This is because there is existing legislation to make the responsibilities of dog owners clear. I agree the reason those laws came into existence is due to the perceived relative danger of dogs. This doesn't preclude laws governing ownership of cats however.
You would prefer it to remain a legally undefined situation so we can have more arguments like this?
Because no other pets are allowed to roam free and cause so much damage.

Erm, yes. When crimes or offences have been commited it's common practise to catch the offender, or at least prove their identity.

I presume this is because dogs are more likely to be a danger to the public.
Of course you wouldn't, but then we'd all much rather certain things didn't happen, yet they still do, regardless of any penalty involved.
Presumably because if cats didn't roam free then they wouldn't catch a selection from your collection of exotic, imported fish?

As for your self appointed role of "Cat Thread Moderator" I'd like to propose a motion of no confidence based on your lack of impartiality!
Start another thread, simple.
Call it 'I hate cats'. See how far your dialogue gets..............

Seriously though that is getting a little serious - I know chances are nothing would happen, but at the end of the day you are entitled to an opinion.

lol! p@ul
I'll think I'll leave it there though. Jye looks like he's about to have kittens of his own!
Jye, I thought we had agreed to disagree on this one? We are never going to see eye to eye on this so we may aswell celebrate our differences and have some fun doing so!
