Gary is quite right.
Melbourne Ardenlea Hotel (now been there 2 years running) I know some people were not happy with the hotel but I thought it was a great little hotel, tucked out the way but still in town. The owners were also very accomadating with the parking
Might need to book 2 hotels this year by the looks of the interest
I have all the info from the last few years IOW trips if whoever takes up the challange wants it.
Sorry but after last years comments I will not be organising another!

Must say I liked the hotel when we first stayed there, nice location, and I'm sure the boys will agree that the breakfast room staff were well up to the task So it wasn't a top class hotel, but then again, that's not what we wanted, it's not like we were there for a couple of weeks, it was one or two nights, the main purpose of the trip was a bit of fun, and that my friends is what we had. OK, so I remember *some* of it (eating cueballs, being called gay, feeling very hungover, burning the lighting loom, running out of clutch fluid, think I'll stop there )
To be honest, I don't blame Iain for not wanting to do it again, it's a bigger task than most realize and when you get negative feedback it takes the joy out of wanting to do it (Shall I mention "Bentley" at this point? Some of you will know what I'm on about)
Just want to say a big "Thank You" to Iain for sorting the trip out in the past (especially 2 years ago when I was meant to, but bottled it, I owe you one) lots of fun and memories I'll keep for a lifetime

Can't find the exact details at the moment but it was about 14 cars (28 people) for the weekend, then there were about 7 cars from the Hants lots that joined us for the day on Sat plus about 6 local owners that joined in throughout the day
The hotel was about £35 PPPN
When we first started doing the trip 3 years ago the suggestion was made about camping or S/C and I think the ideas were stamped on by the wives/gf's (It was pointed out that we would all come back single)
At £35 PPPN it's pretty cheap for a weekend away!! and is the most practical.
The Hotel was very accomadating with kids and babies (Cots/bottle warmers etc)
Judging by the interest and the fact that the "Essex Massive" have now got a sniff of the trip I would look (to start) with numbers of 15+ cars (30 people) for the weekend and maybe another 10 for the day on Sat.
Not as easy as you think

Hi, Hales
Dont mind helping out on this one. Been to all 3 of these weekends and had a great time on all of them.
I'm sure with Ian's (Diney's) help we could make this another great weekend.
PS any Islanders who have met up with us and helped out in the past could they please post on here or email me, many thanks.
Because of the short notice for planning - lets make Friday 24th Sept, returning Sunday 26th Sept a definite date for this event.
Names below asap.
