Your cars interest me greatly and obviously I'd like to help.
I am in the process of formulating some new waxes. These waxes again are solvent free and still use nice smelling fruity oils and still no white residue.
Having formulated Merlin wax with 40% No1 yellow wax and other natural oils (no solvents) i decided that I wanted something better. The result is two waxes that have 55% wax content but with a great deal of difference. One uses 55% by volume pure white carnauba which is distilled from No1 yellow and is tres expensive but the gains are even great depth of clarity and gloss plus additional protection due to increased wax content. The wax is applied by hand or with an applicator and one merely "wax on and buff" and it is as simple as that and NO RESIDUES. The othe wax has also 55% by volume carnauba wax of that 95% is No1 white carnauba and 5% yellow no1 carnauba. Again the same properties as the former wax described.
As you have two splendid vehicles with the Jag taking the honours, pick up the dog and bone and call me on 0800 074 1608 and as a special one off, I put some in a sample pot for you to try and I'll include some pre wax treatment as well. Or of course if u care to email me your address details and contact numbers I'll do the rest. I'll guarantee you'll love the results as well as the smell and your wife will love your hands epecially if u apply by hand!
I await your info.

anyway - thanks for the info MTR - I never thought I'd read so much about wax products IN MY LIFE until I came on this bbs...still...I think me car looks luvely and shiney after only spending £11 on Honey Wax.

Mer uses solvent, silicones (to make it water mixable)and good old chalk. The cleaning action u mention is that Mer is classed by definition as a polish cos it contains solvents and chalks as the abrasives.
A true wax be it mine or even honeywax HAVE ABSOLUTELY zero cleaning ability at all. If u wax over a water spot you'll just land up with a shiney water spot.

Dear dear dear MTR,
We are touchy arent we.
I obviously made a serious mistake with the "MORE NEWS" post in that it was posted already by APJ. But I posted it in good faith because I thought the fact that they said they were aware that people have been using it for cars was interesting with the usual cadveat that "we dont support this".
If you werent so **** about this you would have noticed that I didnt pass judgement. Just that "the last line says it all" - which it does, if you can take the time to analyse where the line begins and ends, which you obviously didnt. In fact, I posted it because I thought it actually gave your case a little more weight not less.
Yes, I know it was actually old news, well oops, shoot me. I was surprised to get the email from them as I sent them an email a week ago and I foolishly thought I was contributing.
I never instigated a yours is better then mine argument, all I ever said was I thought your comparisons were unfair.
In fact, I havnt I bothered with product comparisons because I know jack **** about any of this stuff and havnt pretended otherwise. I am not expert and gathered you werent either which is why I though you werent being reasonable trying to compare two products designed for different purposes. Its common sense.
I gave you praise for putting the damn stuff on your car because you have the strength in your conviction. Good for you.
Your my sister and collegue comment about analysing WW product is childish and I wont even bother responding.

this is such good fun to read
- though I am very dissapointed by the obvious lack of interest in armadillos
as an aside...I have a joint honours in Phys and Pharm and a masters in Biomedical technology, and I couldnt tell you a god damn thing of useful relevance from those safety sheets - other than I wouldnt recommend eating the honeywax!!
btw...it is refreshing to still read an argument where both (all 3) parties are able to create cogent arguments...makes a difference from the rest of the internet!!

I wanted Zymol but the price is prohibitive so I settled for "Mothers California Gold " - pure carnauba paste wax with no cleaners.
It is without doubt the best product I have used.
Its easy to apply and the results makes Autogym look pretty ordinary.
Costs A$35.

Good though init !
KenG Pledge is miles better no comparison although there is this other furniture polish that I've found (developed by Nasa etc) that contains the same amount ...

This is turning into WAX WARS....In a galaxy far far away....Mark Underwood as Obiwan kenobi, Mossman as his young jedi apprentice. But who's the evil Lord Vader ??
I personally use Zymol carbon wax which Mark supplied me with quite a while back and would never use anything else now ,still got loads left after regular use !
Customer service from The WW is unbelievable to I even got free Motorshow tickets from him last year ! Cheers again Mark
To be fair to MTR he's never said this is better than that etc he's just found a product which some people might be interested in, so good on yer MTR

Whilst I will not be using 'Honey Wax' or anything of its ilk on my Scoob (WW convert), I have to agree that the Wizard of Wax's product range is bloody confusing. Perhaps there's a better way of dividing it into categories. If Meguiar's costs the same as Honey Wax, I'd rather use the one marketed as car wax (because if you're paintwork gets knackered you can *sue* the company
)
)
Carl
I would think that our range is extensive rather than confusing.
It is purposely divided into 3 main areas of car car: Washing, then Cleaning/Conditioning and then Feeding/Waxing.
I would of course welcome some contructive thoughts as hear what you or others thinks in how it should appear.
Would u rather see that other products(manufacturers be shown in another section perhaps). I welcome your thoughts pse so that we can IMPROVE on nwhat we already have.

You guys aren't going to start being adult about this are you? My internet time isn't free you know, I'm on pay per view here. Lets get it on!
bkar - didn't you see MTR was shouting at you with caps lock?
MTR - bkar called you touchy AND childish - are you going to stand for that? If your going to get mad, don't do it like this ':mad' - that's not going to annoy anyone - do it like this,
Ding Ding, seconds out

MTR,
Sorry about using the A* word, it doesnt befit me
and weakened what I was trying to say, which was "I was being neutral when I posted the news item as it acknowledges that other people are using HW for the waxing cars". The tone of your message was unfortantly misread by me and I didnt see the lighthearted way you ment it - maybe it was because you said things like "bothered" and that I had problems "communicating" and such like. I appologies for being undulie touchy :P
You shouting the "merit" line "AT NO TIME HAVE I TRIED TO COMPARE THE MERITS OF USING ONE PRODUCT TYPE AGAINST ANOTHER, EXCEPT FOR COST" is anologous to people saying "I am a non-smoker except for cigaretts". By bringing the cost comparison issue up you are making comparisons. It is for this reason I thought that making comparisons of unlike products was suspect.
If I was to make a comparisons of a Grey import and a UK model, at least I would be making comparisons of like products (both are cars and supposed to be cars, against a mold release agent vs car waxing products), consequently I cannot see any hyprocracy in anything i have said or done.
I HAVNT tried to stear you away from using the HW product OR tried to compare it against other products as frankly I dont know - all I ever said was your arguments for comparison were questionable.
Where did you get the oil from, I would like to try it also.

MTR,
I thought you wanted to make peace, but since then you, very rudely (I cant think any other reason why anyone would think something like this), suggested I listen to Chris De Burgh (argh). Still I forgive you.
Until next thread, have fun.

As the cheap wax is intended as a releasing agent when exposed to heat would it not also make a good automotive wax? As most of the probs i encounter envolved insects which are baked onto the body, if it helps release under heat then it would help release crap from your paintwork?
I guess the answer to that would be whats the difference between an insect and fibre glass. Unfortunantly I do not know the answer to this.
I do know that the waxes ive tried tend to make removing the insect easy - in fact Ive actually hosed them off. So I guess HW would make this just as easy.
