Evo 8 Mr 340 vs Sti MY02 Vs WR1 I know its been done before BUT (BIG BUT)
A friend of mine works for a VERY VERY large company who buy SHED loads of mitsubishi's and they offered him one for the weekend as a "trial" basically so he could thrash it and have fun....a sweetner for buying so many mitsubishi's !!!
Hawkeye, put your name down for the MR450!!,also the MR which as the same as any high performance jap car doesnt loosen up to around 10000miles,and knowing the idiots who do the FQ upgrades wouldnt surprise me if it was down on boost, most FQs need the intercooler pipes retightening due to loss of boost.

To shore up MMC's financial standing, a capital enhancement of 450 billion yen will be carried out with 270 billion yen coming from Mitsubishi group companies, 10 billion yen from MMC's strategic partner China Motor Corporation (CMC), and 170 billion yen from the market. Preferred shares totaling 140 billion yen will be issued to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, and other Mitsubishi group companies, while The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi Trust & Banking Corporation will swap 130 billion yen of debt for equity. Funds procured from the market will come from plans to issue 70 billion yen1 in common stock to Phoenix Capital and 100 billion yen in preferred shares to J.P. Morgan Securities
This months autocar has a test involving the MR320 and the WR1...the 320 beat the WR1 around the track by 2 seconds...which isn't bad.
Autocar's description of the evo... 'it doesn't accelerate up the road, it explodes into the horizon on a wave of torque and grip. It shatters any worthy arguement, this car; any image worries or real-world hypothesis. Nothing woudl be quicker across roads like these'
times
Evo - 51.65 secs
WR1 - 53.40 secs

The article goes on thus:'except perhaps the Impreza, with a more loopy driver. Traditionally, the Impreza has been the saner car, a bit more road-friendly and easier going for day-to-day motoring. But this model is almost as barking as the Evo, at least in power.'

things look on the up for mitsubishi especially if the rumoured 400bhp beast comes out!! 400bhp and a warranty cant say fairer than that. The ***** in subaru's court to beat it ....... 3 litre six in the imprezza or the 2.5 american unit would be their only hope...... interesting times ahead

There are much better cars out there for 40K plus, certainly much better than either a Subaru or Mitsubishi.

And before I get flung out the fecking door, I currently own an MY02 STI, and have been a loyal Subaru customer for the past 6 years.....Ah bless!

Cheers
Shaun
depends what you want out of a car
1 evo would be a five seater
2 3 year warranty and new
3 Damm fast and handles well
what else would get near this for say £40,000
and exclusivity only 30 being made!!!
and i too drive an MY02sti and very happy with it
